Some news nuggets heading into a holiday weekend …

Panini America‘s USA Baseball boxed set — its first with the license — arrives today. It will include 62 base cards featuring the 2012 Collegiate National Team, 18U and 15U squads, too. Each $100 (or so) set also will include seven autographs and two memorabilia cards. Among the notables are Cavan Biggio, son of future Hall of Famer Craig.

Topps wants you to be in 2013 Gypsy Queen — on a baseball card. As part of an online promotion on its Facebook page, the baseball card maker will be taking submissions from collectors telling them why they should be a Gypsy King or Gypsy Queen in the 2013 set. Visit its Facebook page for more information. All entries must be received by Friday and a winner will be selected on Tuesday.

Panini America has released its list of dealers who will have its Black Friday packs available as part of the company’s promotion. Click here to view the list.

2011 Panini America Black Friday Packs was the best promotion in the 20 year history of Sports Cards Plus of San Antonio. 2012 Black Friday cards looks much better than last year and the packs are LOADED! Fat Packs with Relics/Jerseys are about 1:7 and you can get RCs, Autos, Cracked Ice and Low numbered cards in the skinny packs.

Yeah looks like fun just not enough funds for me this year. So far this year I’ve bought 1 box of 2012 prestigue fb
not great but retail and some hobby packs keep me intrested.
I’m sure there are a lot of people like me and can’t afford a lot of hobby boxes this year just trying to stay afloat and keep our house is a little more important,
Watching Beckett breaks and youtube videos is a good way to share that thrill
