New Jersey Devils arena promo set features Martin Brodeur retirement card

Sometimes a redemption card is worth the wait – especially if you are a fan of Martin Brodeur.
On February 19, the New York Islanders made their way to Newark to face the New Jersey Devils and fans in attendance at the Prudential Center received a pack of seven cards courtesy of Upper Deck featuring six members of the current team along with a voucher for a special tribute to the future Hall of Fame netminder that set several NHL standards during his time with the club.
Since the Brodeur card was not ready for distribution that evening, fans would be able to pick their copy up at the Devil’s Den, the team’s official store starting on March 1. The delay was worthwhile, though, as it featured Brodeur saluting the crowd during his number retirement ceremony that took place on February 9. It also has his facsimile signature on the front in addition to full career statistics on the back.
“We work with the teams to create compelling content for their arena giveaways and to honor Martin Brodeur’s incredible career was really important to the New Jersey Devils,” said Upper Deck’s Senior Marketing & Social Media Manager, Chris Carlin. “We worked with them to create a great giveaway that will also be highly collectible.”

The Islanders have had at least 2 card giveaways so far. One set was all six players in the black Brooklyn sweaters and the latest one from Feb has different photos than the ones used in UD series 1 and 2.
