Molson Stanley Cup Rings return for 2016
By Stephen Laroche | Beckett Hockey Editor
Last year, hockey fans across Canada received a substantial bonus inside of cases of various beers produced by Molson and they created quite a sensation with strong secondary market prices as collectors attempted to find all 20 Stanley Cup ring replicas.
In good news for the casual collector, the promotion returns again in 2016 and the rings are already available in stores. The bad news for those that built last year’s set and paid a hefty premium to do so? The rings are exactly the same and as a result, prices could start to soften.
While it is undoubtedly frustrating to those that went the extra mile in order to build their set, those that fell short in their quest may applaud the fact that they have a better shot at accomplishing the feat. Such a move for a beer company hockey memorabilia promotion is not unheard of as the Labatt’s Stanley Cup replicas that were popular in the early 2000s ran over multiple years.
The 2016 edition of Molson Stanley Cup rings are currently available as a bonus inside cases of Molson Canadian in all provinces with the exception of New Brunswick, which will not see them until April 27 as per confirmation from Molson Coors Canada. In Quebec, they can also be found in Molson Export and fans in Newfoundland will find them in 15-packs of Molson Canadian, Molson Canadian Light, and Coors Light.

I think it’s absolutely absurd that they made them the EXACT same as last year, atleast with the Stanley Cups they made subtle differences to the logo, so you knew which was from which year. My parent’s bought me a set last year for my birthday, but it was so damn expensive that I paid half; and now it’s barely worth the half I paid. If I would have known this, I would have never even bothered.
Sincerely, one aggravated and avid hockey enthusiast
