Michael Jordan’s college memories fetched big bucks this weekend.

A number of unique college items once belonging to Jordan sold at auction on Sunday for nearly $55,000 at the 2014 Goldin Auctions Winter Auction.

A recruiting letter addressed to Jordan from University of North Carolina coach Dean Smith sold for $27,010 and Jordan’s UNC diploma sold for $20,786. In addition, a recruiting letter from UNC assistant coach Bill Guthridge sold for $4,731 and a copy of Jordan’s college transcript sold for $1,894.

The items came from a sale of a public storage locker that contained items from Jordan’s former Chapel Hill restaurant ‘23’.

A Jordan 1992 USA Olympic Dream Team game-used and signed uniform also sold for $32,683.

The Jordan memorabilia wasn’t the only highlight from the auction. A Jackie Robinson game-used bat sold for $162,268 and a 1966 Mickey Mantle bat that sold for $45,720. An early 1950s Gordie Howe Detroit Red Wings game-worn jersey sold for $39,938.

In total, Goldin Auctions Winter Auction brought in $2.3 million for more than 1,100 lots of sports, entertainment and historical memorabilia.
