Mega Evolutions Return as Pokémon TCG Unveils Phantasmal Flames Expansion for November Launch

Great news, Trainers: just in time for the launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the Pokémon Trading Card Game is bringing Mega Evolutions back in a big way. The Pokémon Company has announced that the next expansion, Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames, will launch worldwide on November 14, 2025, with some seriously awesome new cards and fresh artwork.

Among the highlights is Mega Lopunny ex, with a lineup that also features new cards announced by The Pokémon Company: Togedemaru, Moltres, and Dawn to name a few, the same that debuted with news of Mega Lopunny ex.
The expansion includes more than 120 cards and continues the trend of blending nostalgia with modern design. Each Mega Evolution Pokémon ex brings new strategies to the table, giving longtime players a reason to revisit a beloved mechanic while keeping gameplay fast and dynamic.
Players can get their first hands-on experience with the set through prerelease Build & Battle events beginning November 1 at select game stores. They won’t be issued to every store, so you may have to call around and confirm what’s happening to make sure you can get in on the action. These early tournaments offer an exclusive chance to test out new cards ahead of the full release and often come with limited edition promo items.
Alongside the standard booster packs, the launch lineup will also include an Elite Trainer Box stocked with sleeves, energy cards, and a promo card themed around the set. With Mega Evolutions returning to the spotlight, retailers are already seeing strong preorder activity from both competitive players and collectors eager to secure their boxes before release.
Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames marks the next major chapter in the Pokémon TCG’s ongoing revival of classic mechanics, merging fan-favorite Pokémon with new visual styles and gameplay depth. Expect excitement to build as November approaches, and plenty of competition to snag those Mega Evolution cards once they hit store shelves.
If you’re looking to get into the Pokémon TCG again, this might be a good way to kickstart your return. This is one set that’s going to cause some serious waves, and you’re going to want to be here for it.
