The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are officially leaping from the sewers into the world of Magic: The Gathering.

Launching on March 6, 2026, this Universes Beyond release brings together four decades of Turtle-mania with the complex strategy of the Multiverse.

The set invites players into a gritty, fully integrated version of New York City where the Foot Clan and the four brothers battle for supremacy.

The Dynamic New Magic: The Gathering TMNT Universe

The world-building here is fantastic. You will find yourself navigating iconic locations like the Turtle Lair and the Technodrome, with every card serving as a narrative anchor to the franchise’s rich history across comics, cartoons, and films.

For collectors, this set represents a great chase for some of the most unique cards ever printed. At the top of the pyramid are the headliner cards, all four Turtles illustrated by original co-creator Kevin Eastman.

These variants feature a shiny gold signature stamp and are the ultimate prize for crossover fans.

The set also introduces Japan Showcase cards, marking the first time this high-end treatment has appeared in a Universes Beyond set.

Chasing the ultra-rare Fracture Foils for cards like Krang, Utrom Warlord or Leonardo, Cutting Edge is expected to drive significant interest in Collector Boosters.

*Buy Leonardo, Sewar Samurai and Donatello, Mutant Mechanic cards on eBay or Amazon.

New Mechanic: Sneak

Mechanically, the set is defined by tactical stealth and growth. The core new mechanic is Sneak, which perfectly captures the ninja theme.

Sneak allows you to cast a spell for an alternate cost during the declare blockers step of combat on your turn, provided you return an unblocked attacking creature you control to your hand.

If the spell is a creature, it enters the battlefield tapped, and attacking whatever the returned creature was targeting. This creates a high-stakes tactical shell game that rewards players who think three steps ahead.

This synergy is bolstered by the Disappear mechanic, a flavorful reimagining of the Revolt ability, which triggers if a permanent you controlled left the battlefield during the turn.

Because Sneak involves bouncing your own creatures to your hand, it naturally fuels Disappear triggers, creating a powerful loop of value.

Additionally, the set features Mutagen tokens, colorless artifacts you can sacrifice to put +1/+1 counters on creatures. These tokens simulate the leveling up experience of a classic arcade beat-’em-up.

For those looking to celebrate the game’s roots, the Source Material (PZA) bonus sheet features 20 iconic Magic staples reimagined with classic TMNT history artwork.

Opening a Doubling Season featuring the iconic cover art from the very first Turtle comic or a Shadowspear reskinned as Donnie’s Bo offers a substantial return on both nostalgia and gameplay utility.

Between these reprints and the pizza-themed basic lands, where Swamps are topped with anchovies and Mountains with pepperoni, the release is a comprehensive celebration of the hobby.

*Buy Raphael, Ninja Destroyer and Michaelangelo, Improviser cards on eBay or Amazon.
