Magic: The Gathering Hot/Cold List for the Week of December 1, 2025

Welcome back to our weekly look at the movers and shakers in Magic: The Gathering’s secondary market.
We’re seeing some fascinating movements this week. The Universes Beyond effect is in full swing, creating cross-IP synergies that are spiking random cards from Magic’s history, while some of the hottest cards from earlier this year are finally starting to cool off.
Let’s dive into the data. Here is your Hot/Cold list for the week of November 30, 2025.
The Hot List
Electro, Assaulting Battery
We kick things off with a shocker. Electro, Assaulting Battery from the Spider-Man set has been steadily climbing, but it really popped off this week. It’s gone from around $3 to $10.
When this card was first previewed back in September, we knew it had potential. A commander that lets you keep red mana as steps and phases end? That’s basically Omnath, Locus of Mana for red players.
But why the spike now? It turns out the release of Avatar: The Last Airbender provided the synergy Electro needed.
The new Firebending mechanic in the Avatar set heavily incentivizes you to generate and spend red mana at instant speed. Players have realized that Electro is the perfect battery to store up mana for big Firebending turns.
Additionally, older synergies are being rediscovered; people are dusting off copies of Braid of Fire to pair with Electro, creating an engine that generates massive amounts of upkeep mana that, thanks to Electro, doesn’t vanish.
If you have a copy in your trade binder, now might be the time to move it before the hype stabilizes.

City of Solitude
Our second big winner this week is a blast from the past: City of Solitude from Visions. This Reserve List rare jumped nearly 75 percent seemingly overnight, going from $13 to $23 for a good quality copy.
For those newer to the game, City of Solitude is a brutal enchantment that stops players from casting spells or activating abilities during other players’ turns. It is a great response to control decks.
The primary driver here appears to be a reaction to the current metagame. With the rise of the Bant Airbending Combo decks in Standard and Commander, which rely heavily on instant-speed interaction and looping Appa, Steadfast Guardian, players are desperate for ways to resolve their spells.
While City of Solitude isn’t Standard-legal, its effect is unique and powerful enough that Commander players and Legacy specialists are buying them out to fight the blue menace.
Plus, as with any Reserve List card, once the price jumps, FOMO kicks in hard, driving the price even higher.

The Cold List
Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER
Now for the cooldown. Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER was arguably the most hyped card of the Final Fantasy set when it dropped back in June. Pre-order prices were astronomical, hovering near $100, driven purely by the character’s iconic status.
However, the laws of supply and demand eventually catch up to everyone. Over the last week, we’ve seen the price soften significantly, dropping about 13 percent to settle in the $30 range.
This is a classic case of post-hype saturation. The Final Fantasy set has been opened continuously for months now, and there are simply more copies of Sephiroth entering the market than there are decks demanding him.
Don’t get me wrong, $30 is still a very healthy price tag for a non-serialized card, but if you were holding onto extra copies hoping for a rebound, you might be waiting a while. The market has moved its attention to the newer, shinier toys from the Spider-Man and Avatar releases.
