Magic: The Gathering Hot/Cold List for the Week of March 9, 2026

This week’s list is defined by a massive elemental resurgence, and the fallout of high stakes unban speculation. We are looking at Grave Sifter, Flash Photography, and Cool but Rude as the week’s biggest gainers are due to broken new synergies in Lorwyn Eclipsed and TMNT.
On the other side, Dolmen Gate and Iona, Shield of Emeria are the week’s biggest losers as new reprint supply, and a lack of banned-list movement, have forced market correction.
The Hot List
Grave Sifter
Grave Sifter has pulled off a staggering price spike this week, moving from a sub-dollar rare to a market price of around $15.
While the Legions original is the collector’s choice, even the Commander 2014 reprint is seeing intense pressure as supply vanishes from major platforms.
The engine behind this move is Ashling, the Limitless from the new Lorwyn Eclipsed Dance of the Elements deck. The synergy is great in stack manipulation, when you cast Grave Sifter for its evoke cost, you can order the triggers so that the sacrifice happens first.
Because the creature is already in the graveyard when the enters-the-battlefield ability resolves, you can name Elemental, return the Grave Sifter to your hand, and bring back every other Elemental alongside it.
When you pair this with mana dorks like Smokebraider or Flamebraider, you aren’t just getting value, you’re generating infinite mana and infinite untaps.

Flash Photography
While the Final Fantasy set has plenty of flashy mythics, this blue sorcery has become the surprise breakout for the competitive EDH scene.
Flash Photography has doubled in value, jumping from $15 to a $30 market average.
In the cEDH world, this is a dedicated piece for Noctis, Prince of Lucis. Since Noctis allows you to cast artifacts from the graveyard by paying life, Flash Photography serves as a flexible Clever Impersonator that can be cast at instant speed if you target your own permanent.
The real mean interaction involves Displacer Kitten, whenever you cast a spell from the yard using Noctis, the Kitten blinks a permanent, which can be used to reset finality counters or draw extra cards to offset the life loss.
Because this card is tied to the Final Fantasy Scene Boxes rather than the main booster set, the supply is significantly tighter than a standard rare, fueling the aggressive climb.
*Buy Flash Photography, Noctis, Prince of Lucis, and Displacer Kitten cards on eBay and Amazon.

Cool but Rude
Named after the hot-headed Raphael, this red Class enchantment has spiked since prerelease, moving from a $6 floor to an $19 market price, with listings often pushing past the $21 mark.
The market is currently obsessed with the instant death combo it shares with Necrodominance.
Once Cool but Rude hits level two, it deals 2 damage to each opponent every time you discard a card. In formats like Modern or Commander, you can use Necrodominance to draw a massive amount of cards and then simply go to your cleanup step.
The resulting discards translate into a lethal burst of direct damage that most decks simply can’t interact with. The fact that level three acts as a built-in Gamble to find the other half of your combo makes it a legitimate threat that brewers are scrambling to optimize.
*Buy Cool but Rude, Raphael, and Necrodominance cards on eBay and Amazon.

The Cold List
Dolmen Gate
Dolmen Gate has been a high-value staple for months, riding the wave of Elf renaissance hype, but it finally hit a race to the bottom this week.
The card dropped recently, losing $12 in value to settle at a current price of $36.
This isn’t a case of the card getting worse, but rather a classic supply-side correction. The Secret Lair Countdown Kit: An Encyclopedia of Magic has finally started reaching customers, and it includes a guaranteed reprint of Dolmen Gate.
We saw a similar trend with Myrel, Shield of Argive when it hit its own price ceiling; once a guaranteed version enters the market via a $200 premium product, the scarcity premium on original printings evaporates.
*Buy Dolmen Gate and Myrel, Shield of Argive cards on eBay and Amazon.

Iona, Shield of Emeria
Speculation can be a cruel mistress, and Iona holders are feeling the sting this week. After the Commander Format Panel hinted in February that Iona was on the cusp of being unbanned, the price exploded.
However, after the latest update came and went without a confirmed unban, the speculative bubble burst. The card has dropped, falling to $20.84.
The problem with Iona is that she is currently a card without a home. Because she was banned in Commander, her value was almost entirely propped up by the hope of future playability.
Without that unban, the supply of Zendikar and Modern Masters 2015 copies has flooded back onto the market as speculators try to cut their losses.
Until the Commander Panel revisits the list in May or June, Iona is likely to continue her slow slide back toward her original $5 floor.
*Buy Iona, Shield of Emeria on eBay and Amazon.
