Magic: The Gathering Hot/Cold List for the Week of February 23, 2026

This week, the market is all about the transition from the tribal world of Lorwyn Eclipsed to the upcoming mutation-heavy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles release on March 6.
On our hot list, we see massive surges for Mutational Advantage, Hancock, Ghoulish Mayor, and Treebeard, Gracious Host as players scramble for synergy with new commanders.
Meanwhile, our Cold List features Biorhythm and Shadowheart, Dark Justiciar, both of which are seeing significant price corrections as the initial hype for unbans and recent Secret Lair releases begin to fade.
The Hot List
Mutational Advantage
If you haven’t been paying attention to Universes Beyond Fallout singles, it’s time to start. Mutational Advantage has exploded this week, surging to reach a market price of $17.
This card has become the must-have protection spell for the current meta.
For three mana, it grants hexproof and indestructible to all your permanents with counters on them and then proliferates to keep the value train rolling.
With the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set leaning heavily into mutation and various counter types, players have identified this as the premier way to protect their board while advancing their win condition.
Supply has become incredibly tight, with available listings on major marketplaces dropping in just the last few days.

Hancock, Ghoulish Mayor
This Fallout legend has seen one of the most dramatic percentage jumps I’ve seen in a long time, with some versions increasing by over 1,000 percent in value.
The base version has moved from a bulk price of roughly $2 to nearly $9.
The driver here is pure IP synergy. Hancock is one of the very few dedicated Mutant lords in Magic history. Because the upcoming Turtles utilize the Mutant creature type, Hancock provides a low-cost way to buff your entire board based on the number of counters they have.
Since the Fallout set was a limited crossover release, there isn’t a massive supply of these sitting in backrooms, and the lack of an easy reprint path for licensed products has created a massive supply squeeze.
*Buy Hancock, Ghoulish Mayor cards and Fallout Secret Lair: Rad Superdrop bundles on eBay.

Treebeard, Gracious Host
The recent release of Lorwyn Eclipsed introduced a new fan-favorite commander, Doran, Besieged by Time, which focuses heavily on creatures with high toughness.
This has sent ripples through the market, specifically targeting Treebeard, Gracious Host. The card moved from $2 to over $7.
Treebeard is the perfect mechanical fit for the new Doran stompy shell. It creates Food tokens and distributes +1/+1 counters based on life gain, allowing your high-toughness creatures to scale into massive threats.
We are seeing a trend in 2026 where Life Gain and Toughness archetypes are merging, and Treebeard is the bridge between those strategies.
*Buy Treebeard, Gracious Host cards or Lorwyn Eclipsed booster boxes on eBay.

The Cold List
Biorhythm
Biorhythm was the talk of the town following the February 9 Banned and Restricted announcement, which finally allowed the card back into Commander pods.
It immediately spiked from $10 to nearly $50, but we are now seeing the inevitable unban cooling effect. This week, the price dropped to around $18.
The reality of Biorhythm is that it’s an eight-mana sorcery that is frequently a dead card in hand. While it can certainly win games out of nowhere, it is easily countered and requires a specific board state to be effective.
As the initial shock of the unban wears off and more copies from long-time collectors hits the market, the price is retreating to a more sustainable level.

Shadowheart, Dark Justiciar
While the Roll for Initiative Secret Lair superdrop brought some stunning new art to our tables on February 9, the secondary market is currently undergoing a reality check.
Shadowheart, Dark Justiciar (Secret Lair version) is our biggest loser in the premium category this week, seeing a 31 percent drop in price as copies flooded the market.
Market sentiment has labeled Shadowheart the runt of the litter in its specific drop compared to the more powerful dragons included in the bundle.
As a commander, it’s often seen as mediocre and lacks the utility to be a staple in the 99 of most black decks. As the initial collector hype for the superdrop evaporates, the market price has stabilized around $20.
*Buy Shadowheart, Dark Justiciar cards and Secret Lair booster boxes on eBay.
