Magic: The Gathering Hot/Cold List for the Week of April 6, 2026

*Magic: The Gathering Hot/Cold List for the Week of March 30, 2026
Welcome back to our weekly pulse check on Magic: The Gathering in the secondary market. This week’s list is defined by a massive shift in how we think about format legality and deck protection.
Northampton Farm has taken the top spot as players realize its utility in Standard, while Greater Auramancy and Mox Opal are climbing due to specific meta-game locks and new tournament bracket speculation.
On the flip side, we’re watching the Lorwyn bubble start to leak for Elvish Champion and we are seeing a cooling period for Chrome Mox as reprint rumors begin to swirl.
The Hot List
Northampton Farm
If you’ve been keeping an eye on the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, you probably already know that Northampton Farm is the rare land everyone is talking about.
Initially, many of us dismissed it as a flavor-heavy inclusion for April O’Neil fans, but it has quickly become a competitive staple.
The reason for this sudden No. 1 ranking is its stashing ability, which functions as a bizarre, delayed protection spell.
Because the ability works at instant speed, you can exile a vital creature in response to a board wipe or targeted removal and then bring it back later when the coast is clear.
Unlike many powerful utility lands, the Farm doesn’t enter the battlefield tapped, making its opportunity cost for inclusion almost non-existent in Azorius or Selesnya builds.

Greater Auramancy
Enchantments are currently dominating the conversation, and the rare printing of Greater Auramancy from Shadowmoor has exploded with a price increase this week, landing at a market price of around $80.
This spike is a direct response to the soft lock meta currently taking over Standard. Players are leaning heavily on the enchantment High Noon to stop multi-spell decks like Izzet Lessons, and Greater Auramancy is the perfect insurance policy.
By giving your other enchantments shroud, it makes it incredibly difficult for your opponent to interact with your lock pieces.
We’ve seen supply for both the original Shadowmoor version and the Wilds of Eldraine anime borderless variants dry up as players scramble to secure their copies before the next big tournament.

Mox Opal
It is rare to see a card with a $250 price tag move the needle significantly, but the mythic rare Mox Opal from Scars of Mirrodin has managed a modest jump to around $275 this week.
This is due to continued speculative reaction to Gavin Verhey’s Game Changers announcement for Commander earlier this year.
This new bracket-based system categorizes high-power cards into specific tiers rather than banning them outright, leading many to believe that Mox Opal will become a permanent, legalized fixture of the format’s highest competitive pods.
With the card also being a cornerstone of Modern Affinity decks, the pressure on the existing supply is relentless, especially for premium versions like the Kaladesh Inventions or Judge Promos.

The Cold List
Elvish Champion
After a massive run-up fueled by the Lorwyn Eclipsed hype cycle, the rare Elvish Champion from sets like 8th Edition and Invasion is finally cooling off.
It saw a significant decline this week, dropping its market price to around $27. While it was a $37 staple just a month ago, the market is realizing that newer, more efficient lords like Elvish Warmaster or Leaf-Crowned Visionary are simply better choices for most decks.
Additionally, the Champion’s old-school formatting, which pumps all elves on the table, including those your opponent controls, is increasingly seen as a liability in a meta where mirror matches are common.
If you’ve been holding onto these, the era of nostalgia-driven $40 price tags might be coming to a close.

Chrome Mox
Rounding out our list is the mythic rare Chrome Mox, originally from Mirrodin and famously reprinted in Eternal Masters. It has seen a dip this week, sliding to a market price of around $187.
This cooling effect is largely a waiting game, with the Special Guest slot announcements for Secrets of Strixhaven just around the corner, many collectors are hesitant to buy in at a premium.
There is heavy speculation that a high-value mana rock will be included in the upcoming set, and Chrome Mox is a prime candidate for a reprint.
This anticipation of new supply, combined with players pivoting their resources toward the Game Changers bracket targets, has led to a noticeable softening of demand for this fast-mana staple.
