Well, the community called it. After months of speculation about the next major Universes Beyond crossover, Wizards of the Coast has officially pulled back the curtain, confirming that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be making their debut in Magic: The Gathering.

The highly anticipated collaboration is set for a global tabletop release on March 6, 2026, and will draw inspiration from the franchise’s entire history.

The set, which will carry the TMT code, is confirmed to be legal in all formats. Additionally, supplementary cards under the codes TMC and PZA will be legal in eternal formats like Commander, Legacy, and Vintage.

A Look at the Product Lineup

Wizards of the Coast is rolling out an extensive product line designed to cater to every type of fan, from seasoned players to TMNT enthusiasts who are new to Magic.

  • Play and Collector Boosters: The standard entry point for players, with Collector Boosters offering the premium Booster Fun treatments collectors are looking for.
  • Commander Deck: A pre-constructed 100-card deck titled “Turtle Power!” will be available for Commander players.
  • Bundles: A standard Bundle and a special Pizza Bundle will be offered. The Pizza Bundle is a standout, including a Collector Booster, exclusive pizza-themed basic lands, and two of six possible promo cards with unique pizza-themed art.
  • Turtle Team-Up: Perhaps the most novel product, this is a cooperative experience where up to four players can use pre-built decks for each of the four Turtles to battle against an automated enemy deck.
  • Event Products: Local game stores will be supported with Prerelease Packs for events running from February 27 to March 5, 2026, and a Draft Night product bundle.

The Chase Cards

For collectors, the special card treatments are all that matters. Wizards of the Coast has announced several Booster Fun variants that I’m sure will be highly sought after.

  • Borderless Headliner Cards: In a huge nod to the franchise’s origins, original TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman will provide exclusive borderless artwork for four cards, one for each Turtle. These will feature a stamp of Eastman’s signature and are exclusive to Collector Boosters. The first of these, Leonardo, Sewer Samurai, has been revealed.
  • Borderless Source Material Cards: A series of 20 reprints from Magic’s history will be reimagined with art from the TMNT franchise. The previewed card, Doubling Season, features the iconic cover art from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 comic.
  • Pizza-Themed Cards: The Pizza Bundle will contain exclusive promo cards, with Dark Ritual being the first revealed. The bundle will also feature full-art basic lands depicting various pizza toppings.

Final Thoughts

While this initial announcement gives us a fantastic overview of the products and special treatments, the real speculation for players and collectors begins now.

The Turtle Team-Up product is an innovative approach to bringing new players into the fold, and the direct involvement of Kevin Eastman on the Headliner cards is a brilliant touch that honors the source material.

If you’re like me you’re probably already thinking which Turtle will make the best commander? How will the new mechanics translate to the tabletop?

In the coming weeks and months, I’ll be diving deep into card spoilers, analyzing potential breakout hits, and speculating on the most powerful commanders once more details emerge.
