Magic: The Gathering continues to break sales records. It seems like it has been happening every month for the last three years.

This week a 1993 Magic: The Gathering Alpha Underground Sea sold for $36,100 on eBay. A big part of the price for this particular card is that it’s graded as a BGS 9.5 Quad+. This means that three of the sub-grades are 9.5 and one’s a 10.

1993 Magic The Gathering Underground Sea BGS 9.5 PWCC Aug-2018

The Underground Sea is widely considered to be the most sought after dual land in MTG.

Just 25 have received Gem Mint grades from BGS. Of those, few are Quad+.

By comparison, recently an Alpha Underground Sea graded BGS 8.5 sold for over $6,000. Still a healthy sum by any means, but far off from what this latest 9.5 sale was.

With so few Gem mint copies available to the public, the potential for this card is strong.
