The announcement late last month that Press Pass was releasing Fusion – a brand new product incorporating athletes from a wide world of sports that includes baseball, basketball, football, NASCAR, wrestling and mixed martial arts – created quite a buzz among collectors who seemed genuinely excited about the company’s foray into the multisports arena.

Fusion is slated to go live Nov. 11, which has made mail call at Press Pass headquarters these days quite an exciting time as the product’s luminaries begin returning their autographed cards – including unique inscriptions and vaunted red ink variations – in time for packout.

“We’ve received great feedback from the players so far regarding the photography, and we’re incredibly excited by some of the early autograph variations we’ve received,” said Nick Matijevich, Press Pass Director of Product Development. “According to our contact at Dan Severn’s camp, he laughed when he saw the image and asked ‘Where’s the mustache?’

“Our team did an amazing job of digging up some unique shots of athletes that likely have never been seen before by collectors.”

Following are the fruitful results of a few recent Mail Days.

Good question, Chris. Here’s the response from Press Pass’ Nick Matijevich:

“Regarding the logos: Due to the nature of the product (Olympians, NASCAR drivers, poker players, etc.), we felt that the base set flowed better with the sport logo on each card as opposed to a team logo. With that said, we did include the collegiate logos on some cards where we felt they fit, as evidenced by the Collegiate Connections & Timeless Talent card scans shown here as well as in the product preview.”
