Incoming cardboard: 2011 Rookies & Stars Football
By Andrew Tolentino | Football Editor
Come late July, collectors can get their hands on the 2011 installment of early-season regular Rookies & Stars Football. With a $4-per-pack price tag, it’s the right kind of product to kick off the coming kickoffs.
Showcasing — well — rookies and stars of course, the Panini product is slated to hit shelves on July 27 with an array of per-box bells and whistles.
- Four autograph or memorabilia cards (one autograph guaranteed)
- 24 Rookie Cards
- One Rookie Revolution insert
- One Studio Rookies insert
- Six additional parallels or inserts
Furthermore, as Panini America NFL Brand Manager Carlos Torrez explains, “… It will be the earliest program to feature more than 130 NFL rookies and there will be one Rookie Card in every pack … There will also be 35 embroidered-patch rookies starring players who attended the 2011 NFL PLAYERS Rookie Premiere.”
Other finds in 2011 Rookies & Stars include:
- SP Rookie Signatures
- Signed, embroidered team patches
- Team Chemistry
- Dual autographs from 2011 rookies picked up by the same team
- All American Patches
- Autographs from former collegiate All Americans
- Prime Cut Signatures
- Embedded with one or two prime game-worn jersey pieces and autographed by top-notch NFL stars
And now for some literally weird, but metaphorically delicious eye candy:
same stuff as last year, same name, same pictures, same design, new rookies, no thanks
I don’t collect football, all baseball here but I have to say when I see product like this I can’t help but think how cheap it is…..makes me look back at boxes of press pass from the late 90’s & early 00’s and just wonder why it was made. It’s sad how today there is no brand loyalty. It used to be people saying “I Only build sets of Fleer” or “I only buy Donruss Elite” now since there isn’t any stable brand from year to year except for Topps it really cheapens the cards and makes them look generic imo. I loved Leaf in the past but not too interested in what they have anymore
I can’t stand Rookie Players in there college unys. I WANT TOPPS 2011 to be here
