Any opportunity to cover 24-time MLB All-Star Willie Mays is a great opportunity. Thanks to a massive live upcoming Hunt Auctions event, closing on Jan. 12, there is plenty to cover on “The Say Hey Kid.”

Debates will continue as long as the game of baseball is played, but regardless of one’s stance, Mays is one of the game’s greatest all-around talents, best center fielders, and most beloved players.

Starting his MLB career in 1951 with the New York Giants, Mays won Rookie of the Year honors after hitting .274 with 20 home runs and 68 runs driven in. Due to military service in the Korean War, Mays was limited to 34 games in 1952 and missed the entire ’53 season. But upon return, Mays proceeded to cement his place in MLB history.
