Heisman hopeful Jameis Winston already a hit with collectors

Collectors usually have to wait before getting a hold of a college football player’s first trading cards.
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is certainly one that is on the radar for them.
After eight games this season, Winston has 2,502 passing yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has a 70.3 percent completion rating while leading Florida State to an undefeated record. Winston is one of the favorite for the Heisman Award so far this season.
Here’s good news for collectors – Winston already has cards on the market with the bulk appearing in 2012 Upper Deck USA Football.
“Unlike other stories recently about autographs of prospects causing peril for players, these USA Football box sets do not jeopardize the eligibility status for the players since they are playing for their country and Upper Deck is the exclusive trading card manufacturer from the USA Football team,” Upper Deck wrote on its blog.
A 2012 USA Football box has 50 base cards, at least one autograph and five memorabilia cards for about $50.
Winston’s autograph 2012 USA Football cards are selling for more four times that amount. Recently, an autograph card sold for $200 on eBay with memorabilia cards selling for more than $30.
Low-numbered cards such as an autographed memorabilia card numbered to five copies sold for $500 on October 8 on eBay.
