Gum, Football Cards and Innovation: Philadelphia Gum Had Them All


Most collectors only link Philadelphia Gum to the NFL sets it produced from 1964-1967. But that cuts the Philadelphia Chewing Gum Corporation short.  The company, created in 1946, was far more than four years of licensed football cards. It was a well-run corporation that helped usher in some of the innovations we take for granted today, such as incentives to vendors and wholesalers to carry more product.
