Connor Bedard showed why he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks during his rookie season. The question now is, how good will he be for the duration of his career? Collectors are betting on generational.
Only a hit by New Jersey Devils defenseman Brendan Smith could keep Bedard from making history during his rookie year. Bedard was set to be the youngest NHL All-Star ever, but a broken jaw kept him out of the game and off the ice for just over a month, slowing his overall production. Bedard still posted 61 points in 68 games earning the Calder Memorial Trophy (ROY).
Among hobbyists, the 19-year-old is a chase card. In Upper Deck’s 2023-24 SP Game Used Banner Year NHL Draft Autographs release, 10 Bedard cards were created serial number 1-10. So far, two of the 10 have been graded by Beckett; one near mint 8 and one near mint 8.5.
