Graded: 2023 Disney Lorcana Rise of the Floodborn #14 Mufasa Betrayed Leader
Want to play trading card games, but unsure the best way to get into the hobby? In 2023, Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn Illumineer’s Trove was released. The game was constructed around beloved Disney characters set to pull at the heart strings with a ready-to-play starter deck of 60 cards for enthusiasts. Upon release in November, Disney fans, collectors, and TCG players alike rushed to the magic created within.
The storyline for Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn: “A sudden explosion rocks the Great Illuminary. Inside, magical ink crashes together and a flood rushes through the hallways. Glimmers of characters swept up in the chaotic flood find themselves transformed in surprising ways, while precious lore is washed out into the Inklands far below.”
Following in the TCG tradition, Rise of the Floodborn gets more exciting when adding booster packs (12 cards) where players can receive common cards, uncommon cards, rare, super rare, and/or legendary cards with one foil card.
In addition to the booster packs, collectors were offered the Disney 100 Collector’s Set bringing Lorcana: The First Chapter TCG together with Rise of the Floodborn. Disney took the opportunity a step further adding the Ultimate Choice: Illumineer’s Trove that came with a storage box, two deck boxes, eight booster packs, a player’s guide, and 15 game tokens.
The characters made part of the TCG adventure included Bashful, Christopher Robin, Cinderella, Elsa, Happy, King Louie, Mickey and Minie Mouse, Mulan, Snow White, The Queen, Arthur, Chip the Teacup, Jiminy Cricket, Baloo, Donald Duck, and many more.
From the 1994 animated family musical The Lion King, Mufasa represented the cinema classic in Floodborn.
Two versions of 2023 Disney Lorcana Rise of the Floodborn #14 Mufasa Betrayed Leader L were released, a base L and a Cold Foil L. The Beckett Online Price Guide has the base L in a near-mint condition at $25 and $31.25 in mint. Beckett has graded four 9.5 Gem-Mint and one 9 Mint base L Mufasa cards.
