Panini Absolute Kaboom cards are about as cool as they get for sports card collectors. Beyond the normal release of sports cards with a player image, the Kaboom series brings the comic book superhero feel to the football hobby. The 2023 Absolute Kaboom release is packed full of value cards, and the Bryce Young #29 Vertical rookie is one of them.
Panini rolled out the 2023 set with Vertical #29 Bryce Young as a base, Gold, and Green. The pop count for the base is unknown with just 10 released in the Gold and the Green being a 1-of-1.
The Beckett Online Price Guide lists the Vertical #29 Bryce Young raw from $300 to $600 with a MINT rating at $750. Online pricing for 9 grade Kaboom Bryce Young can start at $1,175 reaching up to $2,900-plus if graded a 10.
The collectors landing 2023 Gold Kabooms were at the right end of the proverbial rainbow. Other high value cards in the 2023 set include Brock Purdy #K33, Jalen Hurts #K23, Jordan Love #K9, Jared Goff #K39, Deion Sanders #K24, and Aaron Jones #K31. The Purdy Gold is valued as high as $26,500 as a 10.
The Kaboom base for CJ Stroud, Brock Purdy, and Young are of highest value outside of the Gold and Green cards.
The Player Behind the Card
A five-star 2020 prospect out of national powerhouse high school Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA), Young flipped a July 2018 verbal commitment from USC to Alabama and the rest, as they say, is history. Young helped bring a national championship to Tuscaloosa in 2020 going on to earn consensus All-American honors and the Heisman Trophy in 2021.
The Carolina Panthers selected Young with the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after trading up with the Chicago Bears to get him.
