First Look: 2014-15 In The Game Superlative Vault

Hockey card collectors are about to get another chance to own some of the most coveted cards produced over the past few years as In The Game will be offering them a special release that draws from the archives of one of the most popular brands it produced before merging with Leaf Trading Cards last year.
Superlative Vault is expected to be delivered to card stores on March 26 and it caps off the brand’s original era before Leaf produces their own version for the first time later this year. Back in 2007-08, Superlative turned some heads with its debut and gathered a strong following due to its mix of autographs and limited game-used memorabilia cards from today’s stars, hot prospects and respected legends.

With Superlative Vault, collectors will find four cards in every box and each one will be a specially-stamped one-of-one. There will be three different color variations for the foil stamps (Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire), which means that some cards will appear in the product up to three times but have distinct stamping to distinguish them from each other. All cards will have a Ruby variation while a potential second or third version of that card will have Sapphire and Emerald stamps respectively.
“There were just too many spectacular cards in our Customer Service stock to destroy,” noted Dr. Brian Price via a post in an online message board. “So I created this product at this price point to allow collectors, who never had the opportunity to buy Superlative products, to collect some these amazing cards and add them to their collections.”
Limited to 2,500 boxes, it has already sold out to distributors and with a surprisingly low price of around $120 expected at the retail level, supplies could dry up quickly. In speaking with Beckett Hockey, Price clarified that this release will be independent of Leaf Trading Cards and would be only offered to distributors instead of direct accounts via ABL Liquidations Inc.
