Everything You Need to Know About Disney Lorcana Fabled Set 9

Since its launch in August 2023, Disney’s Lorcana has grown to eight sets and more than 1,500 cards to its roster. The ninth set, slated to be released in September 2025, will bring several notable changes to competitive Lorcana play, change the name of the game when it comes to collecting, and much more. Titled Fabled, the next set is arguably one of the most exciting updates to Lorcana yet.
Fabled will rotate cards out of legal play
Long-time trading card game players will be familiar with card rotations, when specific cards are no longer allowed in competitive play under certain rules. Until Fabled, Lorcana has not had any set rotations. When the set releases in September, the first four Lorcana sets (The First Chapter, Rise of the Floodborn, Into the Inklands, and Ursula’s Return) will move out of rotation.
All hope isn’t lost for fans of these sets though. Lorcana is also adding a new format called Infinity Constructed that will allow the use of these original four sets. Disney says it’s important to rotate the card sets to keep competition fresh and change the meta from time to time.

New rarities are on the way
Lorcana currently has six different card rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Legendary, and Enchanted. You can identify the rarity by the symbols at the bottom of the card, with Common cards featuring a gray circle and Enchanted cards bearing a multicolored hexagon.
Fabled will introduce two new rarities by way of Iconic and Epic cards. Iconic cards will be particularly rare, with only two cards out of an entire set earning the title. Epic cards will be somewhat more common and feature unique artwork and foils.
You can get your hands on the set as early as August
While the official release of Fabled isn’t until September 5, 2025, hobby stores and card shops will receive the set on August 29. Eager fans can expect pre-release events focused around the set. Depending on the store, reservations will likely start earlier in August.
If you’re new to Lorcana and plan to start collecting with Fabled, the new Collection Starter Set offers four booster packs, one promo card, one card portfolio, and one collector’s guide to give you a leg up. With Fabled arriving as the ninth official set, you’ll have a lot of catching up to do, but you can think of that as having something to look forward to.
Fabled will mark the first official set release of Lorcana Year Three. Three more yet-unnamed sets will launch after Fabled, but Disney hasn’t revealed details about those yet.
