Dust Off Those Daniel Jones Rookie Cards, Values are Rising

If it was ley lines or just a bad schematical fit, Daniel Jones’ run in New York with the Giants did not go well for all involved. Just about everything that could go wrong for the Giants’ 2019 first-round draft pick out of Duke did. But as fans have seen time and time again, a new place to call home can make all the difference in the world.
The offseason landing spot for Jones in Indianapolis has led to a resurgence for the quarterback with spiked enthusiasm in the hobby.
After two weeks of 2025 NFL action, it is never too soon to start hype machines. The Colts are 2-0 coming off an 8-9 season where they missed an AFC South title for a ninth consecutive year. But optimism is brewing.

Roll back to a couple months ago when fans were hopeful 23-year-old starting QB Anthony Richardson would take that next step in his development, bringing playoff glory back to Lucas Oil Stadium. When head coach Shane Steichen announced Jones as the starter, sports talk radio stations had an easy topic to tie up hours of on-air conversations.
Although Jones left the Giants organization as the franchise’s fifth leading passer in career yards (14,582), don’t expect his jersey in the Ring of Honor in the foreseeable future. Jones started 69 games in New York, leaving with a 24-44-1 record. His rookie year was solid, 3,027 yards passing with 24 touchdowns, but outside of a good 2022 campaign (3,205 yards, 15 TDs, 5 INTs), there wasn’t much to be excited about in the Big Apple.
If NFL MVP voting were to take place today, chances are Jones would be selected over another QB in the midst of a resurgence after throwing for 450 yards and 3 TDs in Week 2, Giants QB Russell Wilson.
Jones is second in the league with 588 passing yards, sixth in QBRating (111.1), and sixth in completion percentage (71.4).
The Colts have a favorable schedule outside of some tough draws against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4 and the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7, with wait and see affairs against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9 and Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. If Jones can stay healthy… expect continued coverage on the possible Comeback Player of the Year.
In the Hobby
Those who may have used Jones as a punchline and subsequently gave away any of his now valuable cards are no longer laughing. Just about anything labeled 2019 with Daniel Jones listed behind it is flying off the digital shelves. Panini Prizm, Donruss, Prestige, Chronicles – you name it, are being gobbled up by collectors.
One of the cooler, and more expensive items sold after Jones’ Week 2 performance, was a 2019 Panini Immaculate Collection Collegiate #8 Daniel Jones MEM /6 listed for $296.08 on eBay. Another high-priced item sold was a 2019 Panini Prizm #302 Daniel Jones Blue Ice RC PSA 10 for $479.95.
Not as expensive as the Immaculate Collection card, but cool in its own right, a 2019 Panini Playbook Booklet #82 Daniel Jones /125 that features a patch and autograph sold for $88 after seven bids during an eBay auction.
Get those Jones cards out, post ’em if you got ‘em. They are worth some money.
