College ties among baseball highlights in Panini’s National show wrapper redemption program
By Chris Olds | Beckett Baseball Editor
When the Panini America wrapper redemption program kicks into gear at this year’s National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago on July 29, there will be plenty of familiar names inside the packs.
Jameis Winston, Russell Wilson, Kris Bryant, Matt Harvey and plenty more will be found in packs.
What might not be the norm is what uniforms they are seen in.
With the Collegiate Licensing Company deal in hand, Panini will create baseball cards for a few former baseball players along with college cards of guys who you still see on the diamond today.
The cards were teased Wednesday as the company readies for its popular program once again.
This time, rookies will be serial-numbered to 499 copies with memorabilia versions of the cards limited to only 99. The college variations will be produced for 15 players in the set, which will include more than merely baseball when it arrives on the show floor soon.

Are these cards only for investors-I mean-collectors, who have an extra 5 grand to spend on Panini products?
From Olds: Nope, quite the opposite. You get a few packs for opening a box of cards at the company booth.
