The college baseball field was narrowed down to eight Super Regionals with the winners of the best of three advancing to Omaha. The Friday night aces, defensive wizards, and big smashers at the plate take the field on Saturday starting the 2025 College Baseball World Series. Of the eight finalists, which players are the top prospects in the upcoming Major League Baseball Draft?
Louisville, Oregon State, Arizona, and Coastal Carolina represent one side of the CWS with Arkansas, LSU, UCLA, and Murray State in Bracket 2. If the seeding of the tournament was reshuffled after the Supers, the seeding would more than likely start with Arkansas followed by LSU, Oregon State, Coastal Carolina, UCLA, Louisville, Arizona, and Murray State.
Coastal Carolina (13) and Arizona square off in Bracket 1 on Friday followed by Oregon State (8) vs. Louisville. Bracket 2 begins on Saturday with UCLA (15) against Murray State and then Arkansas (3) vs. LSU (8). The tournament is a double elimination construct.
Turning to the top prospects, LSU left-handed pitcher Kade Anderson will be one of the first ones to go off the board July 13-14 during the All-Star Week in Atlanta. Anderson has four pitches to throw at batters which helped him lead the D-I ranks with 145 strikeouts in 89 innings after conference tournament action. Scouts are also high on RHP Anthony Eyanson and second baseman Daniel Dickinson.
The next player in the CWS scouts are high on is Beavers’ shortstop Aiva Arquette. Arquette began his college career at the University of Washington transferring to Oregon State before his junior year. Listed at 6-5, 220, Arquette is that power hitting SS MLB teams want. OF Gavin Turley is tracking to be a second or third round pick.
Arizona outfielder Brendan Summerhill had a breakout sophomore season in 2024 batting .324 and then followed that up hitting .358 through 42 games. Solid power numbers with six triples, 12 doubles, and four dingers in 2025.
Another SS that could go first round out of the CWS field is Wehiwa Aloy. Aloy earned SEC Player of the Year honors with the Razorbacks after hitting .348 with 20 homers and 64 runs driven in through 61 games.
Another Arkansas talent that could be a great early card to pick up is LHP Zach Root. Root is the Hogs’ Friday starter going 8-5 with a 3.59 ERA in 17 games started. The deep mix of pitches kept batters off-balance producing 119 Ks in 92.2 innings. Be on the lookout for RHP Gage Wood and OF Charles Davalan cards.
A top prep prospect in 2022 out of the state of Kentucky, Patrick Forbes has morphed from a third baseman to a starting pitcher with the Cardinals. The RHP suffered a hip flexor injury that slowed his rise on the draft board in 2025 but still started 14 games posting a 4.36 ERA with a 4-2 record.
Calling the game behind the plate for Coastal, Caden Bodine is slated to be a late first or early second round pick. Bodine is one of the top contact hitters in the CWS. As a freshman he hit at a .367 clip, .328 in 2024, and .332 as a junior. In 226 at bats, only 21 strikeouts this season.
Unlike football and basketball, there are far less options for collectors seeking college baseball player’s cards. One of the leaders in this niche is Leaf.
