Few companies can nail collaborations like Lego. For years the Lego Group has merged their brand of toy fun with popular forms of entertainment and have created another showroom piece for builders with The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr set.

The epic The Lord of the Rings film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson has captured the imagination of fantasy lovers and film goers since its release in 2001. The original novel in the series, The Fellowship of the Ring (1954) was a continuation of J. R. R. Tolkien’s 1937 classic The Hobbit. The publications inspiring Jackson’s work include The Two Towers (1954) and The Return of the King (1955).

Lego takes the visual elements of Jackson’s onscreen Barad-dûr, Sauron’s fortress in Mordor, bringing the movie to life one brick at a time.

The 5,471-piece set is impressive in all its glory. The construction starts with Gollum’s hideout on the first floor along with a raisable Orc cage prison and weapons forge. The build also includes a throne room with a hidden map of Middle-earth. The fourth floor holds the opening to Sauron’s study, and the fifth floor has the tower library with a rotating ladder.

The topper (pun intended) is the luminating Eye of Sauron.

The set includes 10 minifigures, Sauron, Mouth of Sauron, Orc, Frodo, Sam and Gollum, and Gothmog. Adding to the cinematic look and feel, accessories include helmets, light of Eärendil, Sauron’s mace, and the one ring.

Once erected, the build stands just over 32.5 inches tall, 17.5 inches wide, and 12 inches deep.

The retail price per Lego.com is $459.99 with a shipping guarantee within 60 days.
