The future is now in Atlanta for Michael Penix Jr., even with four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins on the roster. Penix got the starting nod at the end of his rookie season getting a taste of NFL life in the pocket. Heading into the 2025 season, Falcons’ fans and collectors alike are ready to see how the 2024 first-round pick handles the pressure of being the full-time starting quarterback. Battling injuries in 2018 and 2019 with the Indiana Hoosiers, Penix earned AP Comeback Player of the Year honors in 2022 on the field with the Washington Huskies. Penix closed out his college career in style passing for 4,641 yards with 31 touchdowns in 2022 and followed that up with a 4,900-yard, 36-TD, season in ’23.
The first team 2023 All-American was selected eighth overall in 2024 appearing in five games with three starts for the Falcons.

The Falcons begin their preseason schedule on Aug. 8 hosting the Detroit Lions.
Penix ended the 2024 season completing 61-of-105 pass attempts for 775 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed seven times for 11 yards with a score on the ground.
