Since the Expos relocated as the Nationals in 2005, after seven tough seasons, Washington started to make that turn in 2012 that built to a historic franchise moment in 2019. After climbing to the mountain top, the Nats have been a hard luck team, but the trend seems to be pivoting back towards a 2012 rebound thanks to great talent coming up through the minor leagues. One of those top talents is outfielder Dylan Crews.
If anyone has the background to be the next great MLB player, Crews is the guy to collect. As soon as he put on an LSU Tigers’ uniform in 2021, he was on another level. Crews broke LSU school records for a freshman clocking 18 dingers while batting .362 with 42 RBIs earning National Freshman of the Year honors and an All-American selection.
Moving from right to center, during his sophomore campaign, Crews belted 22 homers with 72 RBIs carrying a .349 average. The junior year was video game-esq batting .426 with 18 homers while knocking in 70 with 100 trips across home plate. LSU, with the help of a dominating pitcher named Paul Skenes, won the College World Series in 2023.
Who would go No. 1 overall in 2023, Skenes or Crews? The Pirates took the dominating right-hander and the Nationals got the slugging outfielder.
Crews quickly worked his way through the minors making his MLB debut in August of 2024.
In the 2024 Bowman release, between base cards and Chrome, there is no shortage of options for collectors. The various parallels include Gold Refractors, Fuchsia Refractors, Mega Box Black Refractors and every other color just about imaginable.
Breaking from the #BCP193 Crews cards to #TP9 in the same set, there are short prints of Orange Refractors (25), Red Refractors (5), and a 1-of-1 Superfractors. Another subset is the #BP23 variations that also feature some 1-of-1s like Printing Plates Magenta, Yellow, Cyan, Platinum, and Black.
