From Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons to NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2023, CJ Stroud has been spinning the pigskin in impressive style wooing collectors along the way. There is a long list of fantastic 2023 cards released for hobbyists to chase, and Panini has one of them.
Panini Select, Panini Contenders, Panini Illusions – all lines the manufacturer put out for football has a sweet rookie card for collectors. Due to the visual appeal and short print, the 2023 Panini Prizm Prizms Blue Ice #339 CJ Stroud is one of the more valuable even in raw form.
Just 99 of the cards were released. Raw values range from $800 to $1,500 depending on condition. Add a high grade, prices soar. The values are great for those lucky enough to rip, especially since the card is not signed nor have a patch.
So far, BGS has graded 11 of the 99 issuing three Mint 9s, six 9.5 Gem Mints, and two 10 Pristine.
Online asking prices for a 10 grade varies from $4,995 to the pictured BGS graded at $5,999.95.
Even though football is in the offseason, the Blue Ice Stroud cards continue to move with sale prices ranging from $4,100 in late February to $4,338 in early March, and $3,550 in mid-April.
Stroud was picked second overall in the 2023 NFL Draft behind Bryce Young (Carolina) and ahead of the Texans third pick, outside linebacker Will Anderson Jr. In 32 career games started, Stroud has posted a 19-13 win-loss record with 7,835 passing yards and 43 touchdowns.
If the Texans can protect Stroud, collectors can expect another big season from the rising star. The 2025 schedule is tough, but manageable, and Stroud has playmakers like Nico Collins and Joe Mixon to help carry the load. Analysts are predicting a 10-7 kind of season ahead for Houston.
