Cheap Wax Wednesday Box Breaks: 2024 Topps 206 Baseball

We are back with another rip of my favorite Topps online exclusive product, Topps 206. 2024 Topps 206 features a 300-card base checklist. Included in the checklist are everything from rookies, to veterans, to legends of the game. All cards, of course, are fashioned after the original T206 tobacco cards and are mini cards.
In addition to the base set are the many different parallel card backs. This specific release had 11 different card backs available for each card, everything from the base card back, to Polar Bear backs (1 in every 7 packs), to 1/1 Ty Cobb Back parallels. There are also Wood Stock and Canvas Stock versions of each base card.
Not enough to keep track of? Well, there are also autographs! Autographs are found about once in every four boxes. There are 88 players on autograph checklist, including legends like Johnny Bench, Carlton Fisk, the late Rickey Henderson, Derek Jeter, Sandy Koufax, Fred McGriff, and Mariano Rivera. Though there are some duds as well, the auto checklist is truly loaded with big names!
2024 Topps 206 Baseball Box Break
Cards per pack: 10
Packs per box: 4
Price paid: $55

Pack 1:
Noelvi Marte RC, David Wright, Edouard Julien, Vinnie Pasquantino, Marco Luciano RC, Roy Campanella, Oneil Cruz, Bo Bichette, Steven Kwan Old Mill Back (1 in every 5 packs), and Lawrence Butler New Beginnings (1:13 packs)

The Butler New Beginnings variation typically sells around $8.
Pack 2:
Zack Gelof RC, Ceddanne Rafaela RC, Kirby Puckett, Larry Walker, Willie Mays, Yogi Berra, Yuki Matsui RC, Freddie Freeman, Jasson Dominguez Piedmont Back RC (1:1.8 packs), and Eddie Mathews American Beauty Back (1:15 packs)

Using pack odds, one can calculate that each American Beauty back parallel should be limited to about 22 copies!

Pack 3:
Cody Bellinger, Jarren Duran, Satchel Paige, Jordan Hicks, Nolan Schanuel RC, Jared Triolo RC, Ty Cobb, Ryan Howard, Hank Aaron Piedmont Back (1:1.8 packs), and Junior Caminero Sweet Caporal Back RC (1:3 packs)

Jordan Hicks was just traded from San Francisco to Boston as part of the return for Rafael Devers.

Pack 4:
Yordan Alvarez, Steve Garvey, Alan Trammell, Ranger Suarez, Babe Ruth, Roberto Clemente, Quinn Priester RC, Andre Dawson, Alan Trammell Polar Bear Back (1:7 packs), and Josh Jung Wood Stock (limited to 20 copies).

Even being limited to 20 copies, the Jung Wood Stock parallel only sells for about $10. Undervalued if you ask me, though I may be biased.

Lastly, the George Herman “Babe” Ruth card back. Not much going on here, but that fits with tobacco era cards.

Unfortunately, there are no autographs in this one. How much can those be worth? Well, a Derek Jeter autograph from this set sold for $450 a couple of months back!
