Cheap Wax Wednesday Box Breaks: 2021 Topps Series 2
2021 Topps Series 2 Baseball features a 330-card base checklist, matching the size of Series 1. Each base card is also available in 12 different parallels, all the way from Gold /2021 to Platinum 1/1s. One hundred select cards from the checklist are also found in the collector-favorite Clear parallel, which are full acetate cards limited to just /10.

In addition to the base set and all the parallels, this release is also full of a host of inserts, as flagship Topps is known to be. There are also a bunch of relics and autographs to be found here. Each hobby box should hold one relic or autograph card.

Pack 1 highlights:
Adam Duvall, Eugenio Suarez and Edwin Encarnacion
Suarez seems to be one of the players most likely to be traded this trade deadline, which is coming right up.

Pack 2:
Justin Upton, Devin Williams, Jordan Montgomery, Jose Ramirez and Walker Buehler 70 Years of Topps Baseball (1:8 packs)

Pack 3:
Angels team card (featuring Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani), Andrelton Simmons, Sean Murphy, Corbin Burnes, Kyle Hendriks and Sixto Sanchez 1986 Topps Autograph Black Parallel /199 (1:738 packs)
This Sixto autograph would’ve been a nice hit back in 2021 when he was making his debut. Now? It can be had for around $5.

Pack 4:
Tanner Houck RC, Joe Mauer 1986 Topps All Star (1:8 packs) and Isiah Kiner-Falefa Rainbow Foil (1:10 packs)

Pack 6:
Ozzie Albies, William Contreras RC, Trevor Story, Hyun-Jin Ryu and DJ LeMahieu Zero to Sixty (1:32 packs)
LeMahieu was designated for assignment by the Yankees a couple of weeks ago. A long fall from hitting .364 and winning the American League batting title in 2020.

Pack 17:
Alejandro Kirk RC Batting Image Variation (1:40 packs), Framer Valdez and Ke’Bryan Hayes RC
Though tough to pull, this Kirk Image Variation RC only sells for a couple bucks.

Pack 18:
Angels team card, Nick Markakis and Nolan Arenado 1986 Topps All Star (1:8 packs)

Pack 19:
Giancarlo Stanton, Stephen Strasburg, DJ LeMahieu, Bryan Reynolds and Corey Seager

Pack 20:
Brandon Lowe, Didi Gregorius and Aaron Judge 1986 Topps All Star (1:8 packs)

Pack 21:
Jose Abreu, Shane McClanahan RC, Ha-Seong Kim RC and Jorge Soler Home Run Challenge (1:24 packs)

Pack 22:
Pablo Lopez and Alex Kirilloff 70 Years of Topps Baseball (1:8 packs)
How quickly some things can change. Kirilloff, with a RC in 2021 Topps, has already retired from the game.

Pack 23:
Jeff McNeil, Luis Garcia RC and Garrett Crochet Gold RC /2021 (1:14 packs)
With Crochet becoming one of the top arms in baseball, this card is now worth about $20. It can be argued that Topps Gold parallel RCs are undervalued in my opinion.

Pack 24:
Dallas Keuchel, Andrew Miller and Max Muncy 1986 Topps (1:8 packs)

The Andrew Miller card back. Miller was certainly a dominant lefty out of the bullpen at times during his long career.

Lastly, the Silver Pack. I always save these for last, even though they come right on the top of the box.
Devin Williams, Anthony Rendon, Eddie Murray and Jack Flaherty Green /99

Really, not a bad box here. Got the Sixto autograph, which, again would’ve been a decent pull back in 2021 and pulled some tough parallels. The Crochet Gold RC really made the box.
P.S.: The National is next week. Who else is excited?
