Cheap Wax Wednesday Box Breaks: 2013 Press Pass Showcase Football
2013 Press Pass Showcase Football focuses on college players, and the product features nothing but hits.
Every single card is either an autograph or relic card. The checklist is also limited to just 52 players. For the most part, the featured players are offensive skill position players, so you shouldn’t find offensive linemen in these packs. The sell sheet also claims that the featured players were all projected to be picked in the first two rounds of the draft, but that proves to not come to fruition here.
Each box will hold just one pack, with six autographs and one relic card. There are, however, also hot boxes. If you find a hot box, which fall just 1:10 boxes, you will get an additional pack with four more autographs!
Now the obvious question. Are they any notable names on the checklist? There are some, including Cordarrelle Patterson, DeAndre Hopkins, Denard Robinson, Geno Smith, Keenan Allen, Le’Veon Bell, Robert Woods and Zach Ertz. Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III also have cut autographs in this one, but they are extremely tough to pull and limited to just /5 copies each.

Hot Box Extra Pack:
Quinton Patton Autograph /199, Ray Graham Autograph /199, Erik Highsmith Autograph /189 and Jordan Poyer Autograph /199
Poyer is clearly the highlight of the Hot Box extra pack. He continues to play safety for the Buffalo Bills.
Regular Pack:
Justin Hunter Autograph /149, Marcus Lattimore Autograph /50, Stefphon Jefferson Autograph /50, Geno Smith Class of 2013 Blue Autograph /25, Stepfan Taylor End Zone Red Autograph /10 and Zach Ertz Red Ink Autograph /99
There are a couple of guys still active from this one, with Geno Smith and Zach Ertz still NFL starters. That full Eugene Smith signature is a stunner!
According to a checklist, Ertz only signed 13 of these cards in red ink.
Relic:
Tyler Wilson Gameday Patches /21
Wilson was a fourth-round draft pick following a couple years as the starting QB for the Arkansas Razorbacks, but he never did appear in an NFL game.
I should also point out that not all relic cards are Gameday Patches. These are tough to pull, with most boxes containing just a normal relic card.
This was a “Black Friday Sale” purchase. The product doesn’t necessarily have an amazing checklist, but I actually think I did fairly well on this one. Finding a hot box certainly helps!
