It’s May! If you have been reading this series for a while now, you probably already know what that means Minor League May where every Cheap Wax Wednesday break comes from the minors. I enjoy it, but it keeps getting more difficult to track down minor league products that I haven’t featured here yet. Luckily, I just picked up five boxes, one for each of the five Wednesdays in May this year.

2012 Just Minors Mystery Balls is something a little bit different. There are no actual packs in this one, and that might be a first for a product featured here. What each box does have is a 50-card complete set. This one happened to be 2007 Justifiable. I am not certain if each box has the same set or not. It is possible there are different sets inserted into other boxes. There are also be three autographed cards in each box and an autographed baseball.

This should be fun.

Price paid: $30

The set:

First up, I went through the set, 2007 Justifiable, and picked out a few highlights.

Some pitchers: David Price, Justin Masterson & Mat Latos.

I had to include the Latos card just because of the photo.

The hitters: Jason Heyward, Alcides Escobar, Mike Moustakas, Steve Pearce & Matt Wieters

The Wieters card back. Not a whole lot going on here.

The three autographed cards:

Chris Withrow 2008 Just Minors Black (11/25), Steve Hammond 2007 Justifiable Black (22/25) & Brandon Jones 2007 Just Stars Silver (8/10)

I couldn’t find a checklist of cards available in this product. The autographs are pulled from various years and Just Minors releases. It is certainly possible that there are some big names inserted, but that wasn’t the case here. All are pretty limited, though.

The autographed baseball:

Last, but certainly not least, the auto baseball! Junichi Tazawa signed in Kanji.

Not bad at all with the extremely cool Black Major League Baseball signed in Kanji. It helps that Tazawa is a former Red Sox reliever. Also limited to just 50 baseballs.

Next week will be back to a more customary product. Be sure to check back all month.
