Minor League May is here! For the next four weeks the breaks will be only minor league baseball products.

Once upon a time, Tristar, one of the industry’s leaders in in-person and show autographs released their own card sets. 2007 saw three releases from Tristar: Autothentics, Elegance, and Prospects Plus.

2007 Tristar Prospects Plus Baseball features a 100-card base set with recent draft picks in their minor league uniforms. David Price, the first overall pick in the 2007 draft, leads off the checklist. Each base card is available in four parallels, many of which are autographed: Green (/50), Yellow (/25), Orange (/5) and Purple (1/1).

Each Prospects Plus pack should hold an autographed card. Most will be from the Farm Hands set, which includes names like Price, Josh Donaldson, Madison Bumgarner, Mike Moustakas, and Matt Wieters. Though rare, Dual and Triple Farm Hands Autographs do exist. For example, there is a David Price/Madison Bumgarner dual autographed card.

Pack 1 highlights:

Josh Smoker & Julio Borbon Farm Hands Autograph

Pack 2:

Colby Rasmus, Sean Doolittle & Jason Heyward Farm Hands Autograph

Yes, former closer Doolittle started his professional career as first baseman and outfielder. He actually wasn’t that bad either, hitting .272 in over 1,000 minor league plate appearances.

Pack 3:

Peter Kozma, Carlos Gonzalez Protential & Will Middlebrooks Farm Hands Autograph

Pack 4:

Todd Frazier Farm Hands Autograph

The Toddfather 218 home runs over 11 major league seasons, including 40 in 2016.

Pack 5:

Todd Frazier, Clayton Kershaw Protential & Andrew Cumberland Farm Hands Autograph

Pack 6:

Rick Porcello, Jonathan Arencibia, Fernando Martinez Protential & Danny Payne Farm Hands Autograph

Fun fact: I almost ran Arencibia over when leaving a Toronto hotel back in 2011.

Pack 7:

Travis Snider, Matt Wieters, Jose Tabata, Andrew Brackman Protential & Wendell Fairley Farm Hands Autograph

Pack 8:

Anthony Rizzo & Brian Rike Farm Hands Autograph

Rike never did reach the majors, hitting .243 over six minor league seasons.

Pack 9:

Franklin Morales Protential & Wes Roemer Farm Hands Autograph

Pack 10:

David Price & James Simmons Farm Hands Autograph

Price made his minor league debut in 2008, posting a 2.30 ERA across three minor league levels before pitching in five late-season big league games.

Lastly, the Price card back. Price put together a very solid professional career.

Not the best names for autographs in this box, but the chance is still there with a handful of solid names appearing on the checklist.
