This is it. The end of the football season is upon us. With that, it’s the end of Cheap Wax Wednesday football breaks for the season. I figured I would finish off with something different. This is technically a counter top display, but as far as I can tell this is the only way they were available.

1997 MotionVision Digital Replays Football features a 28-card base checklist including five players who appear twice. Each base card is limited to 30,000 copies. In addition to the base set, there was one insert set, Limited Digital Replays. LDR’s, as they call them, are limited to 6,250 copies. One of the LDR’s, Terrell Davis, was available in rare autographed versions that are signed on the back.

Another inclusion in the set were redemption cards for a full uncut sheet. Only 97 redemption cards were inserted in the product run. By my math, 35,000 counter display boxes were produced for this release.

The packs looked an awful lot like CD cases.

I will apologize ahead of time for the terrible photography on this one. It was difficult to capture a good photo.

These are actually fun cards. They’re something different and a step up from something like Sportflics. As far as I can tell, 1997 was the last hurrah for Motion Vision.

Next week I will do something different and feature a multi-sport product. After that, baseball breaks start up as I look forward to spring.
