Cheap Wax Wednesday Box Breaks: 1995 Topps Series 1 Baseball
1995 Topps Series 1 Baseball featured a base checklist of 396 cards. Half of those cards (198) were also available in a parallel called CyberStats. Topps touted these cards as featuring “Spectra Light” technology. They are cool looking for sure!
The CyberStats cards projected each player’s 1994 season stats had the campaign been completed. Teams during the 1994 season were limited to between 112 and 117 games because of a labor strike that began in August. The biggest issues on the table? A salary cap and revenue sharing.

This set does mix in some fun photography here and there. Several players are shown off the field, which always makes for fun cards. What is noticeably missing from this release, though, is insert cards. The only insert available in this box is a Leaders insert, and it is not anything special either. It’s definitely an oddity for mid-’90s release.

Though I do love the CyberStats cards, the lack of inserts is really odd when ripping a mid-’90s Topps flagship product.
