Cheap Wax Wednesday Box Breaks: 1993 Upper Deck Series 1 Baseball Jumbo
1993 Upper Deck Baseball was split into two massive 420-card releases. Each series had six insert sets, with just the Then & Now insert crossing over both series.
Included in the Series 1 base checklist are three subsets. American League Teammates has two or more teammates with a catchy nickname. Community Heroes spotlights players contributing to the greater good off the field. Star Rookies are, well, star rookies. Or are they? Only five of the 29 Star Rookie subset cards are considered Rookie Cards. The best of the bunch? Probably J.T. Snow.
One thing this set does have going for it is some fun photography throughout.

Honestly, I wish this one had a lot more going for it. Aside from some fun photos, there really wasn’t a whole lot. Sure, you have the Home Run Heroes inserts in each pack. Then there were a couple Willie Mays Baseball Heroes inserts, which I do enjoy, but that is it. There were four other inserts in Series 1, but none of those were inserted into Jumbo packs. Strange. That must be why I won this one so cheaply.
