Cheap Wax Wednesday Box Breaks: 1993 Topps Stadium Club Series 2 Baseball
1993 Topps Stadium Club Baseball was released in three series. Series 1 and 2 feature 300-card checklists, while the Series 3 checklist has just 150 cards. All three series featured very similar makeups including First Day Issue parallels and Master Photo Redemption inserts. Each series also has one additional insert set.
Series 2 features some fun posed photos. There are plenty of action shots as well, but the highlight, at least for me, is the posed shots. You’ll see, they are sprinkled throughout the Series 2 checklist. If you are a Rookie Card chaser, Series 2 is probably not for you. There are a handful on the checklist, but nobody of note.

And the second “front” featuring Gooden.

The Frank side. This one sustained a little damage due to the cards sticking together.

Pack 4:
Don Mattingly, Ivan Rodriguez & Randy Johnson

Pack 5:

Appier isn’t a guy that gets a whole lot of love, but over a 16-year career he posted a 3.74 ERA.

Pack 6:
Eric Karros, Edgar Martinez & Chuck Knoblauch

Pack 7:
Ken Griffey Jr. MC & Juan Gonzalez
These two photos may very well be from the same stadium. What do you think?

Listach won the 1992 AL Rookie of the Year after batting .290 with one HR, 47 RBI, 54 steals and 93 runs scored. He finished 18th in AL MVP voting.

First Day Issue parallels were supposed to be just that, the first day’s printing.

Pack 16:
Bret Boone & Dennis Eckersley

Don Mattingly, Bo Jackson, Mark McGwire MC, Curt Schilling & Fred McGriff
After missing the entire 1992 season, Bo returned in 1993 hitting 16 home runs and 45 RBI in 85 games.

Pack 18:
Tony Gwynn, Cecil Fielder, John Valentin, Travis Fryman & Mark Grace

Pack 19:
Doc Gooden, Nolan Ryan, Larry Walker & Kevin Brown
Doc getting in a little catching duty.

Pack 20:
Barry Larkin, Jack Morris, Carlos Delgado, Mark McGwire & Darryl Strawberry

Pack 21:
Lee Smith, Kirby Puckett MC & Rick Aguilera
Aguilera ranks 23rd all-time with 318 saves. He is currently tied with Aroldis Chapman.

Pack 22:
Jeff Bagwell & Bret Saberhagen

Pack 23:
Will Clark, Ozzie Smith, Fred McGriff MC, Trevor Hoffman & Sammy Sosa
Speaking of saves, Hoffman recorded the first two saves of his career in Florida before being traded to San Diego as part of a package for Gary Sheffield.

Pack 24:
Ken Caminiti, Alan Trammell & Deion Sanders

Lastly, the Trammell card back. I always liked when Stadium Club backs showed the player’s first Topps card.

This box went even better than expected. I got lucky with the extra Superstar Duos insert. Also, with just one First Day Issue card in each box and a 300-card checklist, it could’ve been a lot worse than finding Brad Ausmus. However, it really isn’t about the inserts and parallels in this one for me. The classic posed shots featured on some of the cards make this one worthwhile.
