Case Breaker of the Week is a bi-monthly feature that focuses on case breakers throughout the Hobby. This week we spoke to Mrs. Megz of Platinum Card Breaks in Winston Salem, NC.

Mrs. Megz is part of Platinum along with “Platinum David” and “G.”

Case Breaker of the Week is brought to you by GTS Distribution, the Hobby’s leading supplier for sports and entertainment collectibles.

BM: How did you get involved in collecting?
MM: All three of us have been collecting since we were young children, making weekly trips to our local hobby store in the early 90’s.

BM: What is your favorite all-time card?
MM: 1990 Frank Thomas error card. It’s the one that’s missing his name on the front.

BM: What lead you to case breaking?
MM: We came across breakers.tv in early 2014. As soon as we saw our first break we knew this was something that we would enjoy doing. We have been breaking ever since.

BM: How long have you been breaking?
MM: Our first break was in the spring of 2014, so we’ve been doing it more than four years.

BM: What’s your favorite part of being a case breaker?
MM: All three of us absolutely love sports and enjoy the thrill of breaking cards for our customers. We have made some amazing friends in the Hobby and look forward to growing our relationships.

BM: What’s the coolest experience so far?
MM: We have had several great experiences in card breaking, including many amazing cards being pulled for our customers but our most recent favorite card that we pulled was the Kobe Bryant 1/1 Autographed Logoman out of 17/18 Panini Flawless Basketball.

BM: How often do you break?
MM: We break 7 days a week. We start approximately 3 PM EST and run throughout the night, into the morning. We usually end our stream anywhere from 3 – 5 AM EST. On days where there are new releases, we begin streaming about 11 AM EST.

BM: When do you break (mornings, evenings, multiple times a day)?
MM: Platinum David usually breaks during the day. Mrs. Megz and G break at night.
