By Stephen Laroche | Beckett Basketball Editor

Fans of Dufex technology have been patiently awaiting the release of 2014-15 Panini Paramount Basketball since it was announced a few weeks ago and Panini America released some teaser images earlier today via one of their popular Quality Control Gallery posts on their official blog.

Collectors that have been around the hobby for a while will recall Paramount from its days as a brand from Pacific Trading Cards and Panini has re-imagined it as a premium release that also evokes memories of the old Pinnacle sets with plenty of modern twists that include memorabilia cards, a rainbow of limited parallels and buyback autographs.

Read on after the jump for an extensive gallery of cards from 2014-15 Panini Paramount Basketball.

Why exactly is Panini using the Paramount brand (or any of Pacific’s brands) for its NBA products when Pacific never had a NBA license? Paramount was never a great product to begin with for the football and hockey releases in the 1990’s when it was a Pacific brand. Further, this new product is using technology from a completely different release in 1990’s in Pinnacle.

Because it can. Panini owns the names and can basically do what it wants with them. Rather than create new brands, it can try variations on an established theme in a new sport.
