My favorite Dodger has got to be Benny “the jet” Rodriguez. For the Koufax auto I would count, and then eat one at a time, 4,747 green M&Ms.

They will find Josh Hamilton’s bats which didn’t leave his hands and into the stands.

They will also probably find several blue autos of “crowd pleasers” but nothing to please the collectors.

What will I win? Give me the biggest hit you get in the box break – but I’ll also settle for blue autos of any Nationals Players: Danny, Drew, Jordan? Send them my way.

GREAT PULL!!! The Koufax is awesome!!!

Here’s what I would do for a Sandy Koufax autograph:

Even though I’m a DIE HARD Boston Red Sox fan, I’m married to a Yankees fan. If I win the Koufax autograph, I’ll post a picture on my twitter account (@PorterMan20) wearing my wife’s women’s medium sized Andy Pettite Yankees Jersey.

My favorite Dodger (in my lifetime) has to be Kirk Gibson, living on the East Coast I don’t get to see too many Dodgers games. One of my favorite memories as a kid was watching Gibson’s HR.

To get a Sandy Koufax autograph I would assemble a team of the most brilliant minds in the world to overcome the woes of time travel. Then, I would use time travel to return to the past when Koufax was first called up in place of Tommy Lasorda, and get his autograph. Then, as a token for giving me his then valueless signature I would offer him the opportunity to purchase stock in an up and coming franchise (say, Google?). After catching at least one of his starts (Maybe one of the many no-hitters?)I would then return to present day with a pristine vintage Sandy Koufax auto. (However, since I have neither the ability nor resources to accomplish time travel, I would very much require the autograph shown in this video in it’s place.) My favorite Dodger is Clayton Kershaw, whom many have called the modern day Sandy Koufax, and it would be great to finally have both autographs for my collection.

I would call Tracy Hackler every day for a month straight asking him why he left Beckett. I could also fly out to Los Angeles in August to see the Dodgers play and video tape it. Sandy is an all-time great, more importantly a key sports hero to the Jewish community. My favorite Dodger is Tommy Lasorda, great guy, great baseball mind, great dodger.

What would I do for a Sandy Koufax autograph? The most despicable thing I can possibly imagine: attend every Justin Bieber concert for the remainder of my life.

Now, on to more pleasant things, my favorite Dodger of all times is easily Van Lingle Mungo. Anyone who is as notorious for fighting and drinking as Mungo has to make the top of the list. Being retired Navy, I can deeply appreciate what Mungo was doing and to a lesser degree why. Plus, what a great last name, Mungo!

i would have to say my favorite dodger would be Jackie Robinson. for that guy to have the courage to be the first black mlb player. i am sure that he got a lot of crap from and racial slurs from people around the league. but to stick it out and play and become to me, one of the top 10 ball players, that is courage right their in itself.
and what i would do for that Koufax, i would admit on live tv that the Royals are better than the st louis cardinals.
and this is coming from me who is a die hard cards fan. lived in st louis for 25 years. and now live in kansas where my friends are royals fans. hope i win!!!
awesome break once again. thanks guys

To get a Sandy Koufax auto i would spend a full day trying to learn japanese with Yu Darvish and i would have to have a full conversation with him in japanese.

My favorite Dodger would have to be the man himself Jackie Robinson because he broke a color barrier and changed the face of an American pastime. Also Jackie is one of the few players to be able to play all positions in the infield AND the outfield. He is also one of the only players to give the Yankees a run for their money several times for a world series.

I am a die-hard Mets fan, but for a Sandy Koufax autograph I would wear a neon-pink belly shirt that reads “I Love the Phillies” and on the back is a picture of Ryan Howard’s face. The outfit would be complete with John Stockton-esque short shorts with “Phillies” on the butt. I would wear this while selling hot dogs and ice cold beer at every game at Citi Field for the next 2 years.

My favorite Dodger? Hideo Nomo and his 25 minute wind-up.

To win a Sandy Koufax auto, I would actually go buy a Los Angeles Dodgers jersey. There are two teams that I really can’t stand, and those are the New York Yankees and the LA Dodgers. That being said, there are a few players that transcend the teams they were on. For the Yankees, obviously it’s Ruth, Mantle, Gehrig, DiMaggio, etc. For the Dodgers, there are really only two. Jackie Robinson (albeit a Brooklyn Dodger) and Sandy Koufax. As far as my favorite Dodger, I’d have to say Don Drysdale. As a kid, hearing my dad talk about Drysdale throwing over 100mph was just fascinating to me, and I didn’t even think it was possible until I saw Nolan Ryan do it with my own eyes. In all seriousness, I am working on securing an autograph of any type from every Hall of Fame player, and Koufax is one I don’t have. I would be honored to have it.

    Wow. Amazing Koufax!

I’d really love to win that in honor of my father. He was a huge Brooklyn Dodger fan
And still stayed loyal after they moved to LA.
Sandy was his favorite player of all time. My father passed in 94, and I’ve followed in his footsteps trying
    To collect Sandy memorabilia!

This would be the cherry on top!

My most loved dodger would have to be Jackie Robinson. He was an amazing man and was the first black to play baseball, and by doing that inspired many people.

I would do anything for a koufax auto. I would get on my knees wash your feet throw mud on them and wash them again and again. I would love to own a koufax auto since I am only 15 and have been collecting for 2 years and don’t have the money to buy 150 dollar boxes to get the best hits.

What would you do,oo,oo for a Sandy Koufax autograph, ba,da, ba!?!

I would do ANYTHING to get a Sandy Koufax Auto!!! I would eat only chick peas for the rest of my life [I HATE chick-peas]. I would say that I love the red soxs and I would say Ian Kinsler is the best 2nd basement in the league over Robinson Cano!!! I would go into a Shark Tank for 30 seconds while bleeding [Sharks are attracted to blood]. I will not watch a Box Busters on Youtube for a years [That’s the worst out of all of them]. My favorite Dodger ever is Jackie Robinson!! He broke the color barrier in baseball and was also an AMAZING athlete!! Since I am just a kid going into 7th grade, I can’t afford to get a Sandy Koufax autograph, so this is a great opporntunity for me!! I appreciate this a lot and I hope I win!!

Wow both very nice boxes, I’ve seen a ton of these opened already, and they are so much better then last year.
What would I do for a Koufax auto?
Pretty much anything ahah. But I have 3 reasons and or things i would do for this auto
    1) Have to state that my brother is a koufax and dodger collector, has a ton of base of koufax and one jersey but not an auto, would love to give it to him
    2) My family likes the Dodgers and it would be a great surprise for them to get them an auto
    3) And taken right out of the song I’m Gonna be by the Proclaimers, I would do this for a Koufax auto
But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles
(for the koufax auto) To fall down at my door

ehh i know that last part didn’t work as well as i thought, but it was worth a try, right?:D

I would love to get the Koufax card and give it to my son gig his brand new collection. He is six and when he signed up to play baseball this year , all the kids were given a set of Blue Jays cards. Now he has a new hobby. Collecting baseball cards. It was something that I did as a kid with my father as well. As fate would have it , my parents split when I was 13 and my father took the card collection , and I haven’t seen either of them in 20 years. I never thought about collecting cards again until my son showed interest , and now it’s something I will pursue with him. My fave Dodger s are Robinson and Fernando Valenzuela. I used to try and pitch like Fernando as a kid, almost beaned a few guys, lol, so went back to a more conventional style.

For a Sandy Koufax card, I will record 32 people in Mongolia say Sandy Koufax’s name into my iphone and then have a shot of Yak’s milk with them in honor of his baseball records and baseball #. My favorite player for the Dodgers is Sandy Koufax, he was unhittable.

My favorite dodger ever would be matt kemp. He plays th game the right way.

Being that my father is a die-hard Dodger’s fan who used to Brooklyn Dodgers’ games on the radio as a kid in Minnesota, I would do many things: 1) Actually wear a Dodgers jersey as I am a die-hard Giants fan. 2) Allow myself to be photographed wearing said jersey. 3) Go out in public with my father while wearing said jersey. It would be tough, but I would be more than willing to do so in order to be able to get him that card for his collection. He always says he will never be able to pull one of those cards, so I would love to surprise him.

As for favorite Dodger player? I am partial to Clayton Kershaw. He reminds me a lot of Koufax and Drysdale in the way that he approaches the game and dominates hitters. He also has to keep the Dodgers in the game due to their low runs scored totals, much like Koufax had to do in the 2nd half of his career.

Great pull fellas! I’m a diehard Houston Astros fan, but to win this card I would wear a rangers jersey for a day, around all of my friends that know I DESPISE them. I would tell them I switched sides to be a rangers fan allll for a Koufax card—-

My favorite Dodger of all time would have to be Jackie Robinson, but to for LA Dodgers I would have to say growing up my favorite Dodger would be Orel— Something about watching him pitch growing up made me fascinated. His wind-up, his composure, his attitude towards the game of baseball. I’m sure a lot of youngsters looked up to him and I’m sure he is a great role-model.

To get a Sandy Koufax Autograph I would watch every episode of “Sex And The City” nonstop in consecutive order. After that I would write a 20 page essay about every character.

My favorite Dodger is Clayton Kershaw. I’ve liked him ever since he got to the Majors. He is an awesome pitcher and he is my keeper in my fantasy baseball league!

    Great break! Thanks!

Oh wow that is spectacular!!! Congrats on the hit! My favorite all time Dodger would have to be Duke Snider. The great duke from the brooklyn days of old, though i’ve never seen him play live, is such a thrill to watch the old tapes of him trotting around the bases.

What would I do? .. I would buy 1 retro pack of cards from the 70’s through the mid 80s of each year and eat the gum, one by one, live in front of anyone willing to watch it. Then i would grade each piece as it disintergrates into a fine powder to let everyone know what the best tasting year was.

What would I do for a Sandy Koufax autograph? Hmmm. I would ask Morgana (the kissing bandit) to chase Sandy around Dodger stadium. If she can catch him, and coerce him into revving up the old motorboat, heck I’d give her the autograph.

For the Koufax autograph, I would wear Dodger blue to a Rangers game. I grew up a Giants fan, so the Dodgers were the rivals. One of the most famous incidents I remember is the game between the Giants and Dodgers when John Marichal knocked down Maury Wills and Ron Fairly with brushback pitches. Koufax would not retaliate. Johnny Roseboro zinged the ball back to Koufax right by Marichal’s face. As most know, Marichal hit Roseboro three time over the head with his bat. A bench clearing brawl ensued. It was Koufax and Willie Mays who restored the peace.

To get the Koufax auto I would wear a dress to a Texas Rangers game! I would even let the Beckett readers decide exactly what I wore to the game. I live near Arlington and the Ballpark is like a second home to me and I would act a fool for that auto even in my favorite place in the world.

My favorite Dodger has to be Jackie Robinson. The man is a legend and stood up to a lot of true adversity. What I love most about him though has to be how he stuck with his team and retired instead of being traded to his biggest rival. You don’t find dedication to a team like that anymore.

As a SF Giants fan I would wear Dodgers gear for a week and even go to a Dodgers-Giants with the gear and root for the Dodgers. I would hope that they would win and then burn all of my SF Giants stuff after the game.

My favorite Dodger of ALL_TIME…..Darren Dreifort.

We are both from Wichita, and played in the same little league (West Urban) and I followed him from college at Wichita State to the #2 pick behind A-Rod, until the end of his carrer.

He could hit and pitch, too bad his arm never recovered after all the injuries.

IVe been a huge Koufax fan since i was about 8 years old because of my Grandpa. He used to have all kinds of pictures of Koufax and he used to show them to me growing up. My Grandpa died 2 years ago but even though he’s gone i will always have the great memories of my Grandpa and i talking about Sandy Koufax. I might not have a clever answer like some people on here but the truth is i would do almost ANYTHING to win that Koufax. I would Skydive which i never planned to do, but i would for this card. I would cut 20 screaming little kids haircuts everyday for a month for the Koufax(im a barber) I would watch 24 hours worth of ‘Dance Moms” with my daughters for that KOufax (if you’ve ever had to suffer and watch an episode, you would understand) and i would write a review for every new product that comes out from all sports for Beckett Magazine (ok that would actually be a dream come true for me, not really a punishment, but i would do it, hint hint. Of course my favorite Dodger player of ALL time is Mr Sandy Koufax!!! Thanks Beckett for the contest!!

Growing up in Anaheim in the 80’s my dad was a big Dodgers fan. Thinking back of the games we watched, i would have to say my favorite Dodger is Tommy Lasorda. I cant get the image of him sitting in the dugout during the games out of my mind.

What would I do for a Sandy Koufax auto? I would trade you the card for my wife and as an added bonus i will include my 3 children ages 5, 3, and 5 months. PLEASE!!!

My favorite dodger besides Koufax would probably be Kemp. As far as what I would do for the Koufax auto, I would tug on Super Man’s cape, spray Spider-man with Raid, tell Thor what he could do with that hammer, poop in Captain America’s shield and kick the Hulk in the family jewels. Then they could bury me with the redemption.

I am a HUGE SF Giants fan. IF I had the money to buy a plane ticket to SF from Pennsylvania, I would go to AT&T Park wearing all Dodger Blue, and sit in the stands rooting for the opposing team, whomever that may be.

The Dodger I most admie is Jackie Robinson because of his character and class. His play on the field was exceptional, and to think he performed at a very hgih level while putting up with all the ridicule and condescending remarks is unheard of. NO player in baseball today would have been able to stand up to the criticism and hatred that many baseball fans poured out to Jackie.

I’ve seen this man argue and all but fight telling my friends that Sandy is the greatest pitcher of all time. There is nor a bigger Koufax fan on the face of the earth. On his 70th birthday nothing would make him happier than a Koufax autographed card.

To win a Sandy Koufax autograph, would be a dream. As a kid i, dont have thousands or even hundreds of dollars to buy any of these amazing products like tier one. My collection consists of a few jerseys and autos, but mainly base cards from going to target and walmart looking for any angels or dodgers base cards. I watch all these videos in amazement of some of the amazing cards people pull like that sandy koufax, and i hope that someday i will be lucky enough to afford and pull and amazing card from an amazing product. For a Sandy Koufax autograph, i would sit through an extra 53 years of my incredibly boring science teachers class talking about cells and flowers and stuff like that (of course a lot of the time he wasn’t talking and some while he was i was drawing pictures of pujols, kemp, wight, jeter, and all the great players).
My favorite Dodger of all time is Jackie Robinson, because my parents named me after him. They wanted me to be Jackie in the fact that he was a respectable, honest, and persevering person. My favorite players of all time are Jackie Robinson and Lou Gehrig because what they had to go through and what they achieved in their careers. So to sum it up, I would do anything to get a Sandy Koufax autograph.

Like most others, I would put the Koufax auto on Ebay ASAP. That’s what I would do. No doubt, he was a great pitcher for the Dodgers for what, 5 or 6 years.
And, I still get shivers when I look at my 1959 Campanella card. I was still thinking that he had a chance to make a comeback when I pulled that card. Imagine the shock! I grew up a LOT that day. He was and still is my favorite Dodger.

My favorite Dodger is Mike Piazza. I was born in 1984 and I grew up around LA and loved going to Dodgers games during the 90s. Mike Piazza was a big reason I enjoyed going to the games. Around the time he left, the team pretty much lost its identity for me and I lost interest in the team. I actually became a Dodger hater for a while (just the current players). Anyway, now I’m working my way back with the new group of young players, but Piazza is my all-time favorite Dodger.

What would I do for a Sandy Koufax autograph? Using a paper clip, 500 sq ft of duct tape, 1500 sq ft of aluminum foil, and about 2 pounds of plutonium, I’d build a time machine and travel back to 1963, so I could get a Sandy Koufax autograph in person…from his MVP season no less! I’d also stick around to see if I could do anything for JFK…cuz, hey, I’m not totally oblivious. A time machine should not be used for legendary autographs alone!

    1. I would buy a lifetime subscription to Beckett Magazine for a Koufax auto.

In order to win that Koufax auto, I would memorize every single lyric of the song ‘Sandy’ from Grease, and then serenade the card upon its arrival.
My favorite Dodger is Hideo Nomo because he began the trend of Japanese players relocating permanently to the US, and he’s also the only Japanese pitcher to throw a no-hitter. Plus his name always reminds me of the fish. :)

It was a Wednesday afternoon, 27th of June if Im not mistaken. The scorching Texas heat was bearing down at one hundred and seven degrees and showing no remorse. There I sat, frustrated. Five o’clock traffic at four thirty. Suddenly, with the swiftness of a Stromile, Stromile Swift himself appeared in the highway before me demanding that I exit my vehicle and take part in a an impromptu match of the wressling arms! No man is crazy enough to accept such a challenge, I thought to myself.
“I now declare that the victor of this impromptu match of the wresting arms shall receive one John Hancock redemption opportunity for the great Sandy Koufax, said a rando

“I now declare that the victor of this impromptu match of the wresting arms shall receive one John Hancock redemption opportunity for the great Sandy Koufax”, said a random gentleman.
Of course this was an opportunity that I could no longer contemplate passing up. I lept from the seat of my automobile with only one thing on my mind – taking out Stromile Swift. However, as I landed on the hot, highway pavement, I fell into the worst kind of pain – leg cramps. I had seen some of the greats battle through cramps, I knew the drill. Pickle juice. Unfortunatey for me, but fortunatley for Stromile, my favorite Dodger of all time, Kirk Gibson, who is apparantley moonlighting as a cramp speciaist, showed up and ruled me out of all competition for the day. Everyone left knowing that they were part of something special.

Ok, I’ll start with the second question. My favorite Dodger is The Bison, Matt Kemp, with Clayton Kershaw a very close second (I’m anxiously awaiting all of Kemp’s autos going live this year). I’ve been extremely fortunate to meet both numerous times, which is more than I can say for the great Sandy Koufax, whom I have never met. But would do a TON to meet.

I would camp out for weeks, nay months, to meet the great Koufax. I once camped out 14ish hours to meet Kemp, but Koufax is just on an entirely different stratosphere. I would fight tooth and nail to hold my spot against the hoards of Dodgers’ fans that cut in line now just to meet guys like Uribe, Loney, or Javy Guerra. With Sandy, it would be war. I would miss school, work, and whatever social life I currently have to meet a true living legend, and a man with such mass appeal across all walks of life. As a Dodgers’ fan, fan of baseball history, and Jew, it’s basically the holy grail of athletes.

I would grow a beard during said waiting time in solidarity with my fellow fans. It would be my Dandy Sandy playoff beard. And it would be magnificent. But not nearly as magnificent as the moment when I would get to shake Sandy’s hand, get a picture with the lefty, and politely ask for a sweet-spot signed ball to display on my mantle.

    Right next to that beard.

And that’s just what I’d do for an in-person autograph and the experience of a lifetime (next to being trapped on a des(s)ert island with Alison Brie, Kate Upton, Erin Hawksworth, and nothing but time on our hands). For a certified autograph on that slick white redemption cardboard that will eventually be produced, well, I would go into vast detail about how I would do the impossible to win a Sandy Signature: follow the rules you’ve laid down to a tee.

    Gregory Zakwin

I don’t have a video of my campout for Kemp, but I did write about it. And I can assure you a Koufax Campout Post would be a gillyun times more epic.

I collect Jewish baseball player cards. My favorite Dodger is Sandy Koufax. I would love to add the Koufax card to my collection. I will share one of my favorite stories about him:

It was the fall of 1965 and the Los Angeles Dodgers were up against the Minnesota Twins in the World Series. The opening game was scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 6 — a date with little other significance than happening to fall that year on the Jewish high holiday of Yom Kippur. No doubt, that coincidence would have gone largely unnoted except for the additional fact that the Dodger’s star pitcher, Sandy Koufax, also happened to be Jewish. Koufax was not particularly observant, but as he later stated, “There was never any decision to make … because there was never any possibility that I would pitch. Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the Jewish religion. The club knows that I don’t work that day.”

The Dodgers lost that game 8-2. Future Hall-of-Famer Don Drysdale, who started in Koufax’s place, gave up seven runs in the first three innings. It is rumored that when Dodger manager Walter Alston headed out to the mound to take Drysdale out of the game he said, “I know, Skip. Right now you wish I was Jewish, too.”

I guess that sense of humor would make Don Drysdale my second favorite Dodger.

    Thanks for another great contest,

While I am not a Dodgers fan, I do appreciate their role (especially being the former Brooklyn Dodgers) in New York baseball history. I do like autographs of top stars, and Koufax sure fits the bill on that. So, since I am a Yankees fan, I will not cry about losing to the Dodgers in the 1955 and 1963 World Series. Plus I would wear the same coat as Neal Diamond wears, which says KEEP THE DODGERS IN BROOKLYN1. Actually I have 2 favorite Dodger players, Bill Skowron who was traded to them after playing for the Yankees and Jackie Robinson. What Robinson went through to break into the majors deserves awesome respect for the man. And how could I not like the current Dodgers manager, Donnie.

I think that Jackie Robinson is one of the best players ever in pro baseball, but not for the same reason as most other posters here. I think that it is amazing that Robinson did what he did despite the great opposition he faced. I think that no player in baseball could have taken what Jackie did during his career and still have been that great. Jackie Robinson is totally my favorite player.
(Warning: this next answer may cause great confusion for those who are not scientifically inclined!)(And yes this is real science!)(And yes, it is possible, just not with today’s technology!)

For a Sandy “The Left Arm of God” Koufax autograph, I would build a spaceship, collect exotic matter from the accretion disk of a black hole, use it to construct a wormhole that would create a closd timelike loop to travel back in time to 1972, and get him to sign a baseball at his Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. Then I would do the process over again and come back to 2012, show it to you as proof, and give the signed card to my ittle brother.
you did say to be creative!)
    Happy Hunting!

What would I do for a Sandy Koufax autograph? Hmm…first I would take my phone and set it on the pavement under the tire of my car. I would then proceed to get in my car, start it up then run over my phone. I would proceed to do this until my car almost runs out gas. Then I would drive to the nearest gas station fill my tank up and then proceed to run it over again just to make sure i didnt miss it the first couple hundred times. Next I would drive to the nearest walmart and walk around in a giant Spongebob Squarepants costume while asking people “On a scale of 1 to Spongebob how ready are you?” I would then giggle like Spongebob while skipping away. I would then leave walmart and drive around while still wearing the rediculous Spongebob costume. It’s okay for me to do that because I’m better driver than Spongebob. Finally I would go home and have to explain to my girlfriend why I ran my phone over and why I’m wearing a Spongebob costume. Pretty sure she’d understand once I told her what it was for…although I may have to explain who Sandy Koufax is. -facepalm- My favorite dodger would have to be Matt Kemp.

Favorite Dodger: This is an easy one, Sandy Koufax. I love Sandy Koufax because as a Jewish Baseball player growing up in Los Angeles, I have always looked up to him (and Ryan Braun [until last year :( ]). I also like to think about what he could have been was he not forced to end his career so early.

Favorite Not Koufax Dodger: But if I had to choose my second favorite it would have to be Dee Gordon, just because he is the undisputed coolest person in the world. The Dos Equis Most Interesting Man in the World goes to him for tips on being cool.

What I would do for a Koufax Tier One auto: Since this card is too awesome for one thing to acquire it, I have come up with a list of things I would do for a Koufax Tier One auto:
    1. Get in a batter’s box against Aroldis Chapman (terrifying)
    2. Challenge Chuck Norris to a UFC fight
    3. Get in an argument with Bill James about baseball (provided that someone gave me some medicine before to keep my head from exploding)
    4. Eat 3 Broomsticks at Ranger’s Ballpark (look it up)
    5. Attempt to get Matt Kemp out (if that’s even possible)
    6. Make a bad call against Ozzie Guillen

    And Worst of all ,

So as you can see I would do just about anything for a Sandy Koufax Tier One auto.

My father saw his perfect game in 1965 vs. the cubs, and believe it or not, he gave me the ticket stubs from the game! I have them still in a safety deposit box.( actually two of them)! I have his 1958 card, and that’s it. I would love an auto, and I would be willing to give up the historic ticket stubs, and my whole dodger collection for it!!! I also have the ticket stub from hank aaron’s 716 homerun from atlanta. My father went to dental school in georgia and was also there for that historical event! If it came down to it, I would also give up that ticket stub! I need a sandy Koufax auto to complete my collection! Thank you, Chris! If thats not enough, I don’t know what is!!! HISTORY!!!

I would rock a Chris Sabo flat top…goggles included to have the privillege to add an autographed Sandy Koufax card to my collection. That Koufax is a dream card.

As for a favorite Dodger…I’m going out of the box here: Rick Monday. I love the American flag incident that ocurred at Dodger Stadium in April of 1976. Two protesters ran onto the field and attempted to set fire to an American flag. As they attempted to ignite the flag, Rick Monday (then playing for the Cubs) took the flag away before it could be destroyed. He received a standing ovation in his next at bat from the Dodgers home crowd. He later said: “If you’re going to burn the flag, don’t do it around me. I’ve been to too many veterans’ hospitals and seen too many broken bodies of guys who tried to protect it.” Rick was traded from the Cubs to the Dodgers after that season.

I thought that was a fitting selection with the 4th of July approaching next week and we get to celebrate our independance as well as the freedom to enjoy our national pasttime.

My favorite Dodger would be Jackie Robinson. He represented something well bigger then Baseball. He also had a lot of help to do what he did. Baseball wouldn’t be the same without anyone at that time.

Let me start with the second question – who’s my favorite Dodger? As a lifelong Reds fan – the Dodgers were one of my LEAST favorite teams (going back to the NL West days…). That being said, I’d have to say “The Bulldog” Orel Hershiser. Very classy, professional ballplayer. Dominant in his era, played the game with intensity, student of the game, and a role model for kids. What would I do for a Sandy Koufax Autograph? Hmmmmmm, well in honor of Sandy, I would do 382 (K’s in a season) pushups while watching Kirk Gibson’s 1988 World Series Game 1 pinch hit homerun 32 (jersey #) times in a row and then would eat 18 (K’s in a game) habanero peppers with 4 (number of no-hitters) glasses of milk…Can you throw in the Jay Bruce Jersey too – just saying….as a Reds fan…a little love…

Growing up a Big Red Machine fan in the 70’s, I can honestly say that I hate the Dodgers. Never cheered for them or cared for their great teams of the 70’s. I don’t like Garvey, Yeager, Cey, Russell, Reggie Smith, Buckner, Lopes, etc. I have to tolerate Dusty Baker but I am waiting for the day when he is fired. The Dodgers should have stayed in Brooklyn.

My favorite Dodger is Vin Scully, the greatest radio announcer to grace the airwaves.

For a Sandy Koufax autograph, I would get a petition together to change the name of the University Of Cincinnati’s baseball field to the greatest player to have played there. No not Kevin Youkilis. Sandy Koufax! I am still trying to figure out why their field is named after Johnny Bench. Of course it is about money.

I would also try to father more children in a week than Garvey did.

I would go crazy and do anything for a Sandy Koufax auto!!! He’s my favorite pitcher of all-time!!! I would fight MANNY PACQUIAO, I would be the bird that RANDY JOHNSON destroyed, I would be the quarterback and get sacked by VINCE WILFORK, I’d face PHIL MICKELSON in a game of putt putt, I’d challange a game of 1-on-1 against MICHAEL JORDAN, and I’d get hit against the boards by SIDNEY CROSBY!!! Im a kid so I can’t just go out and buy a few Koufax autos, so it would mean that much more to me than it would anybody else. I’ve got a nice collection like STEVE CARLTON 1/1 bat knob, JOHNNY BENCH auto /10, LOU GEHRIG 1/1 printing plate and JUAN MARICHAL auto /60, so I can assure you it would go in good hands.

As for my favorite DODGER, it’s not a player, but a coach…… MANNY MOTA. He is the grandad of my best friend, and he is great with kids. He signed a baseball for me, and the family is really nice. Unfortunently, they’re moving in a month or two, but they’re great people. I hope you pick me to win the SANDY KOUFAX auto, it would go in a great collection. 3) Could be the next Fabio of the calendar industry

    4) Organization….nuff said

What I would do for a Sandy Koufax Auto, I would literally be the up most grateful person in the whole universe (yes i’m including aliens). A card as rare as this should be appreciated not just appreciated, but held in a higher regard. The reason it’s Sandy FREAKIN Koufax the man pitched 4 no hitters in his time, most pitchers are lucky to do one. So that’s why if I got the Sandy Koufax Auto I would not only appreciate it but hold it in high regard, not just as a card but regard it as one of the best pitchers of all time. In other terms my favorite Dodger player would be Duke Snider aka The Silver Fox. My reason was not only was his hitting good (Career total of 407 HR’s and over 1300 RBI’s). It was his fielding too. So I’m done with my ramble if picked I would freaking LOVE it lol So pick me please and Thanks for giving me the opportunity. PEACE!!!!!!!!!!

    – I would also donate $100 dollars to the R.B.I. program. Without it we may not have some of the better players in the game today and need it for the stars of tomorrow.

    – My favorite Dodger of all-time is Jackie Robinson for all of the obvious reasons. He is so revered by my wife and me that our daughter’s middle is Robinson.

Keeping kids involved in this hobby is one of the most important tasks we, as collectors, need to do to keep it alive. Many kids can not afford packs like this to pull these types of cards. I promote and hold presentations on collecting baseball cards for MLPA Baseball Card Clubhouse a program through the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts,.many times a year to hundreds of kids. Having this as a giveaway would be awesome! I usually give away high end cards and packs from my personal collection as well to them. And my favorite Dodger…………easy……….Jackie R!

Growing up in the 80″s as a Dodger fan, and playing 2nd base in my short baseball career my favorite Dodger would have to be the sensational second baseman Steve Sax. What would I do for the Koufax???? I would pay the insane prices and actually go to a Pirate game.

It would absolutely kill me to do it, but to win the Koufax card, I would root for the Yankees for an entire series against my beloved Orioles, all while wearing an Alex Rodriguez t shirt for the whole series ( which is too horrible to imagine considering I think he’s the world’s worst human). I want to win this card to give to my son in the hopes that he will become a collector for life (he’s not yet 2 years old).

My favorite Dodger would have to be Jackie Robinson who accomplished so much in so little time!!

    Thanks for the contest!!!

hmmmm…. what would i do for that koufax auto? Well you see i happen to live on a farm, and on this particular farm there are cows. These cows happen to poop a lot. When these cows happen to poop a lot we have to clean up the poop every so often. When we clean up this poop every so often we use a skitzer and put all of the poop in a wagon. Lets just say for that sandy koufax i would lay on the bottom of this wagon as some one takes poop and fills up the wagon. I will then swim in there until i get my koufax card ;) ………. and i am not much of a dodgers fan but i like matt kemp on the field and off of the field so he is prolly my favorite

What I would not do for a Sandy Koufax auto……anything to do with Justin Bieber. I have to draw the line somewhere!

Now after Beckett awards me the Koufax auto, the rest of you may feel cheated. When I am called before Congress I will boldly stand up and tell everyone I have never cheated to land a Hall of Famers auto! All of the other entrants have “misremembered” how great were my responses to the questions!

I spent the first 10 years of my life in Southern California, and as a kid discovering the wonders of baseball I loved the Dodgers. I moved to Cardinals country at age 10 and switched my allegiance to the team whose games I could attend and watch on tv,. But until then I wore Dodger blue. 1994 was my last year in California. That year was the ROY campaign of Raul Mondesi. He was my favorite player. He probably won the ROY mostly because of his bat, but what I remember was his fielding. To my 9-year-old eyes it seemed as if he had a cannon for an arm and made more than his share of spectacular catches. One of my favorite cards as a kid was my 1993 Bowman Raul Mondesi. Perhaps it was just the ROY award that caused me to believe he was better than he actually was, and in the 18 subsequent years I don’t remember anything he did after 1994, but he remains my favorite Dodger, if only because I associate him with the real beginning of my passion for baseball. I’ve been a Cardinals fan for a long time now but have always had love hidden away for the Dodgers. The 2011 World Series was magical for me as a Cards fan, but with the departure of the two figureheads of the Cardinals I knew and adored, I find myself not feeling the same love for the Cardinals as I used to. This year I find myself watching any game that I deem most interesting regardless of team, and the Dodgers have been on my computer more this year than perhaps any other team. I have aspirations of moving back to California soon, and though I’m not prepared to say I’ll switch my allegiance back I am looking forward to returning to Dodger Stadium again and watching this team on tv.

To win a Koufax autograph I would eat as many Dodger Dogs as I can in 10 minutes, eating contest style, on video of course. So as to ensure that I won’t just take it slow I will guarantee to eat at least 10 Dodger Dogs in 10 minutes or I will auction the Koufax auto for charity (sorry I can’t guarantee Kobayashi-like numbers). Of course the logistics of shipping Dodger Dogs to me in Illinois would be difficult…but that’s what I’d do for a Koufax auto.

My name is Blake Burdge and I am thirteen years old. I would do just about anything for that Koufax auto. I am a huge Alabama Crimson Tide fan, and I would say the dreaded Auburn phrase. The first word starts with a W and the second word starts with a E. I would wear an Auburn hat and jersey for a whole day. Aside from being a Tide fan, I am also a Braves fan. If I was to receive the Koufax auto, I would wear Mets apparel for a week.

My favorite Dodger of all time is Rafael Furcal. He is my favorite Dodger because he once played for the Braves. He is a very good shortstop, and I am not a very big fan of the Dodgers.

  116. Mike

As a lifelong Dodgers fan/lifelong Giants hater, IF I were to win the Sandy Koufax card I would wear a Giants jersey EVERY DAY for ONE FULL MONTH. During that month, I would go to a Dodgers game AT DODGER STADIUM WEARING SAID JERSEY. I will have my wife follow me with a video camera as I did this. I will also post a video to youtube once per day chronicling my month wearing the Giants Jersey.

My favorite Dodger of all time is Sandy Koufax, but since you’re making me pick another, I’d have to say Vin Scully is my favorite Dodger. I moved to Arizona for a short while and living in Arizona, I missed Dodgers broadcasts. The day I moved my family back to California there was a game on. It was a 7:10pm game vs. the Padres, and there was Uncle Vinny just like clockwork. I teared up a bit when I heard him say “It’s time for Dodger Baseball!!” To me, that was the official sign of coming home.

    Thank you for the contest.

I would have myself dropped onto a deserted island in the Pacific with no T.V., internet, and no cell for 30 days. Being a programmer that would drive me into insanity with 4 hours. Then I would swim from the island back to the California coast and walk to Dodger Stadium and hope that I can watch a game and catch a home run ball in the outfield and have it signed by my other favorite Dodger, Matt Kemp.

I would love to own the Koufax autograph. I think I would absolutely do nothing for it. I love collecting and I love collecting the greats of the game. To me I think it will be awesome and an honor to have a Koufax in my collection. Just being honest.

Favorite Dodger is Jackie Robinson. He helped change the game of baseball and also served his country in the military. Only player to have his number retired by all teams and the by MLB. He was given a chance and he took every opportunity to prove everyone wrong, and to also change people’s opinions.

What would I REALLY do for a Koufax autograph. Unfortunately nothing that requires money since I barely have enough to responsibly pay my bills. I WOULD do this . . . I would put blue food coloring in all of my food and drinks for 32 (Koufax’s number) consecutive days and eat nothing but blue food and hope that I wouldn’t have to visit the doctor afterwards. On my 32nd day I would spell out both Chris Olds and Brian Fleischer’s names in blue mac and cheese and send them a photo.

What I would do for a Sandy Koufax autograph:
Well, I am the biggest Kansas City Royals fan to ever set foot on this Earth. I would not care whether or not the Royals existed if i had a Koufax autograph. You could take away our world championship trophy, tear down Kauffman Steadium, put a real curse on us to never win the world series again, they could even take the royals away as a whole……………………………… long as I got that Koufax autograph…

As for my favorite Dodger of all time:
It would have to be Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson changed the sport of baseball as a whole, when he broke the color barrier. If it weren’t for Jackie, nobody would know who Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, or Bob Gibson were(except for those die hard Negro League fans, because the Negro Leagues would still have been around then).

What would I do for a Sandy Koufax Autograph card? I would give it to my Father-In-Law. I have been collecting cards for 35 years and met my wife at my Senior Prom 22+ years ago. I fell in love with her that night and told her so the next day. She thought I was crazy but I insisted we’d be together forever. I told her when we celebrated 50 years I would get to say “I told you so.” Since then we’ve gotten married and have two wonderful children. Little did I know, but her father had been an avid baseball fan and collector since he was a kid in the 50s. His favorite team growing up? The Brooklyn Dodgers. He has always insisted the Koufax was the greatest pitcher he ever saw. I would love nothing more than to give him an autographed card of Koufax! While it is daughter that brought us together as family, it is our love of collecting and baseball that has brought us together as friends. He and I went to the 2010 National Sports Collectors Convention together and are looking forward to attending again this year!

Favorite Dodger – Tough one for me as I’ve always been a Royals fan. But through my relationship with my father-in-law, I have read Boys of Summer and honed my Dodgers knowledge. My father-in-law has always been a fan of Roy Campenella and says the MLB should retire his #39 right next to Jackie’s #42. When you look at the evidence, it is difficult to argue: 3-time MVP including 1955 when he led the Dodgers to their first ever World Championship, Threw out a major league record 57% of all attempted Base Stealers, his courage displayed during his career AND after, etc . Campy was probably the greatest leader in the franchise’s history. Heck, they even created an award to honor his “spirit and leadership”.

What would I do fo a Sandy Koufax Auto?
I would dress as the ghost of Andy Grffith and follow Tracy Hackler around showing up at random times during the day and letting him see me for only a few seconds. I would make sure that he is the only person that see’s me. I would keep this up untl he puts in his blog that the ghost of Andy Griffith is haunting him, or I get arrested for stalking*. If I did end up getting busted for stalking, I would have my little brother repeat the process dressed as Don Knotts (Deputy Barney Fife for all you young-uns in the audience) until Hackler is finally convinced he has lost it, and the whole town of Mayberry is after him.

I really would love the Koufax card for my Father and can’t think of anything I would not do, or being able to convince my brother to be complicit in for that card. Koufax is our Dad’s favorite Dodger hence he is ours also.

*I would not go so far as to actually be considered stalking, nor am I suggesting that any else considers this activity. The above is intended to be humorous and hopefully help me win a Koufax auto.

I have been collecting cards since I was 10 and I have been collecting autographs since I was 18. I am now 31. What would I do for a Sandy Koufax autograph? I would go to spring training and to Dodger games just to try to get him to sign for me. Luck has never been on my side as I’ve never ran into him at either. So I live an hour and a half or so from Dodger stadium. I would actually go to a Dodger vs. Mets game on June 29th to see if I could get some support so could pick my video that I made @ Dodger Stadium. While I did not run into Koufax I did run into some folks that may sound familiar, Billy Ashley, Kenny Lofton, and Fernando Valenzuela. Check out my 6 hour stadium visit. Its just a video under 3 mins. While I could get many employees on video, stadium policy I guess, I did get some former players on it. In case you can’t here who my favorite Dodger is besides Koufax. Its Andre Ethier because he is very fan friendly and he decided to stay in L.A. and he is a former Oakland A. I know Mr. Olds is a big A’s fan. Check out what I would do for a Koufax autograph.

I think that the real question is what WOULDN’T I do for a Sandy Koufax auto? Anything short of causing harm to another person or an animal and I’m in (I really love animals)!
Need some stress relief? I’m your masseuse.
Need a table, footrest? I’m stable.
Need a shave (Chris)? I’m your barber.
I got what you need, and you, you got what I need.
    But you say he’s just a friend….sorry.

I grew up in NY with an Italian grandmother, so nothing existed besides the Yankees….and, somehow, Jackie Robinson. He’d have to be my favorite Dodger. Of course, for the obvious reason, breaking the color barrier (can you imagine), but also because he’s the only non-yankee my grandmother would allow me to respect.

I really don’t know what exactly I would do for a Koufax auto. I can wash your car for a year , cut the grass , take care of your kids while you are in vacation, just anything for his auto. Well I’m not a dodger’s fan I grew up in New Jersey and always being a Phillies Fan. But during that time you know that the Phillies weren’t a good team. So I always watch the World Series doesn’t matter who’s playing and I go for the under dog. During the series Kirk Gibson barely walk due to injuries suffered during the National League Championship Series, hit a pinch-hit, walk-off home run against Athletics closer Dennis Eckersley in Game 1 at the moment I knew they were going to win the series agaist American League best closer.

Well, I guess the contest is closed since it’s Thursday, but just wanted to add…. My favorite Dodger is Lou Johnson, the catcher that took a bat to the head during a Dodgers/Giants game. One tough dude!
Kudos to all the Vin Scully fans …the man’s voice is velvet and his commentary is smooth. Been enjoying him ever since I got the MLB package for the season! An added bonus to getting all those Yankee Games. Long Live Vin Scully!!!
As far as the Koufax card goes, I sure as hell wouldn’t demean myself over any autograph card of anyone. There are plenty of them around and the cost isn’t THAT prohibitive, is it? Maybe if it were a Honus Wagner T206 card, perhaps I’d consider a little demeaning behavior :)
Hey …. I happen to have a Nick Swisher relic card and they say it’s game used, but they don’t specify what it’s from, Jersey, Pants, etc…. From the look of the material I think it might be from an athletic supporter …. I’d be willing to loan it out to a certain Swisher fan for the measly sum of, oh let’s say …. A Koufax Auto card :)

My favorite Dodger would be Jackie Robinson. He had so much adversity and some of his teammates didn’t even like him.
