Hockey’s Golden Decade. I love the Cup Clash cards although most will involve the Islanders or the Oilers, both those teams are stacked with HOFer’s (Bossy & Gretzky enough said). The Goalie mask was still in style and who can forget Cooperalls those ugly full length hockey pants the Whalers and Flyers wore. You had Super Mario, Stevie Y and Patrick Roy plus the Miracle On Ice. They should have had a tribute to all the old arenas that would soon disappear in the 90’s like the Montreal Forum, Maple Leaf and Boston Gardens and the old Chicago Stadium. Hard to believe the Nassau Coliseum is now the oldest rink in the NHL. Even harder to believe is you can get a throwback card of a guy who is still scoring goals in this years Stanley Cup Finals (Mark Recchi). I don’t think there was a better time for the NHL.
