Bids on Goldin Auctions Optic Gold Vinyl Patrick Mahomes BGS 9 Push Over $98K

In 2017, Panini gave their Contenders line a new look while upping the value for collectors. Offering a single-pack box with six cards, each Contenders Optic pack came with two autographs, to the excitement of hobbyists. As Panini was revamping their Contenders line, a rookie out of Texas Tech was hitting the field, soon to work his way into the conversation among the game’s all-time best.
Year after year, Patrick Mahomes has continued to build upon his NFL legacy. A first-round pick, 10th overall, in 2017 by Kansas City, Mahomes has been selected as the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 2018 and 2022 with six Pro Bowl appearances.
Where Mahomes separates himself from the thousands of other QBs that have played the game, he has won three Super Bowls and has been named Super Bowl MVP three times.
Panini and Mahomes in the Hobby
Starting his ninth year in the league, Mahomes’ rookie card values have stayed at a premium price on the secondary market. The raw Panini-produced Jersey-Autographed cards are among the more highly sought after Mahomes cards, but even the raw rookie cards that have not been signed go for hundreds of dollars:

The parallels included Red (/199), Blue (/99), Gold (/10), and Gold Vinyl parallels (/1) with Printing Plates – Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow (/1). Ripping a box, collectors received one Rookie Ticket RPS Autographs, one additional Autograph, one insert, one parallel, and two base cards.
Panini White Box 1/1 cards can add an extra level of value as they are not made available to the public for sale. A White Box comes directly from Panini as part of their redemption program. Owning a White Box card means Panini could not fill an original redemption and has offered a replacement one-of-one autographed card.
