The Trading Card Game market is always shifting with new releases, updated Banned & Restricted lists, and fresh ideas on old cards that bring a new winning element to the tabletop. Each week Beckett breaks down the hottest cards in the TCG market.

The Hot List

One Piece: The Azure Sea’s Seven

January starts off the new year hot with several releases that have gamers and collectors lining up for opportunities to purchase fresh packs and boxes. The hottest on the market – One Piece: The Azure Sea’s Seven.

Releasing January 16, this set is complete with 157 + 1. The breakdown includes 6 Special Cards, 1 Treasure Rare, and 1 Don!! Card. Alternate-art Leaders and Alternate-Art Events will be among the top chase cards.

The top chase cards in the set: Silver Buggy and Gold Buggy.

Pokémon POP Series 1 – 6

What is old is new again, and that is what makes collecting so much fun. The Pokémon POP Series 1 – 6 cards were part of a 17-card set (each) released in 2-card booster packs between 2004 and 2009. Adding to the difficulty of securing one of the Pokémon Organized Play cards, collectors could only get them at events and in battle kits.

Unique cards in the sets included Tyranitar ex, Rayquaza, Blaziken and Gold Star Espeon and Umbreon.

One Piece: Carrying on His Will

Released on November 7, 2025, Carrying on His Will remains a hot item for manufacturer Bandai. Brothers Luffy & Ace & Sabo are at the heart of the story. As is with every One Piece release, the Leader cards attract a great deal of the spotlight. In Carrying on His Will, Gol.D.Roger finally got his Leader card.

One of the unique cards in the release, the Portgas.D.Ace error card.

Disney Lorcana: Whispers in the Well

Whispers in the Well was a big set release: 242 cards – 204 base, 18 Enchanted, 18 Epic, and 2 Iconic cards. The journey moves below the Great Illuminary to the Inkwell Caverns, bringing new excitement for players. Part of the excitement, new mechanics. Another standout in the set, the debut addition of characters from Gargoyles and The Black Caldron.

The main chase cards: Ariel — Ethereal Voice and Hades — Looking for a Deal.

Riftbound: League of Legends TCG Origins

Late to Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering formats? Riftbound is here for you to start anew. Riftbound: League of Legends TCG Origins released on October 31, bringing a new game to local tournaments for gamers. This set focused on battlefield combat through the use of abilities and spells under Jinx, Viktor, and Lee Sin Champion Decks.

The 310-card set gave a big chase for new fans. Adding to the fun, 12 signed cards and 30 alt-art cards. Fans have responded to the new game; the cards are collecting gems.
