Ohtani wasted no time making his presence known in this year’s World Series, slugging his first home run in Game 1. While he played in all five games of last year’s Fall Classic, Ohtani didn’t hit a home run during the World Series, so his two-run shot in the seventh inning had a little extra meaning behind it.

2025-26 Topps Basketball

Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

There were huge release parties across the country when 2025-26 Topps Basketball officially launched last week. Several current NBA stars showed up to events, including Cooper Flagg, Kevin Durant, and Chris Paul. Collectors have been fervently ripping into packs in search of top rookies and stars, with autographed cards of players like LeBron James and Victor Wembanyama getting plenty of attention.

Victor Wembanyama

No player had ever scored 100+ points and blocked 15+ shots through the first three games of a season — until Wembanyama did it to open the 2025-26 campaign. In those three games, Wembanyama has averaged 33.3 points, 13.3 rebounds and 6.0 blocks per game — numbers that will almost certainly earn him MVP honors if he stays on a similar pace.

Cooper Flagg

Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

With a double-double in his debut and two more strong games after that, the 19-year-old Flagg is holding his own in the NBA. The top overall draft pick is averaging 16.7 points and 6.3 rebounds in his first three games as a rookie, and he’s yet to miss a free throw (10 attempts).

Yoshinobu Yamamoto

With a complete game in Game 2 of the World Series, Yamamoto became the first pitcher since 2001 to fire back-to-back complete games in the postseason. In four playoff starts this year, Yamamoto is 3-1 with a 1.57 ERA, and he has struck out 26 batters in 28 2/3 innings.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

With hits in the first two games of the World Series, Guerrero has run his playoff hitting streak to seven games. The offensive leader of the Blue Jays, Guerrero hopes to continue making an impact as Toronto chases its first World Series title since 1992.

VJ Edgecombe

Edgecombe burst onto the NBA scene by scoring the third-most points in a debut game of all-time. His 34 points were the most in a player’s debut since Wilt Chamberlain scored 43 points in his first game in 1959. Frank Selvy had 35 points in his 1954 debut. Edgecombe, the third overall draft pick, nearly had a double-double his second time out with 15 points and 8 assists.

Jonathan Taylor

Taylor rushed for 153 yards and had three total touchdowns in the 75th game of his career on Sunday. In NFL history, only LaDainian Tomlinson, Emmitt Smith, Jim Brown and Adrian Peterson have scored more touchdowns in their first 75 games than Taylor, who leads the NFL this season with 850 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground through eight games.

Through 10 games, Schmaltz leads the NHL in scoring with 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists). All of his goals and all but two of his assists have come during Utah’s current seven-game winning streak, which has moved the Mammoth to the top of the Western Conference standings.
