Beckett Sports Cards Hot/Cold List for the Week of March 9, 2026
Welcome to the weekly Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold list, where we take a quick and fun look at what’s hot and what’s not in the worlds of sports and sports cards over the last week.

The Hot List
Cooper Flagg
Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Flagg returned to action last week and picked up where he left off. The 19-year-old rookie has had three well-balanced games since coming back from an ankle injury. In his return, Flagg scored his 1,000th career point against the Orlando Magic, becoming the second-youngest player in history to reach the mark — trailing only LeBron James. “I think I learned a lot in the last couple of weeks,” Flagg said after missing eight games, “but I was definitely ready to get back out there and compete.”

Victor Wembanyama
Wembanyama became the first player in NBA history to win Defensive Player of the Month and NBA Player of the Month honors in the same month after claiming both Western Conference trophies for February. “Wemby” played in 11 games throughout the month, and San Antonio never lost. The third-year standout averaged 22.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game, helping lead to the extra accolades. The Spurs have lost only once in their last 16 games, putting themselves in prime playoff position as the season finale draws closer.

Kon Knueppel
Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Some experts now consider Knueppel the favorite to win Rookie of the Year honors because of how well he played during Cooper Flagg’s eight-game absence. It should be a neck-and-neck battle down the stretch between the former college teammates, who have both emerged as extremely bright stars of the future. Knueppel and the Hornets sit one game below .500 going into the week, and with only 17 games left in the regular season, every win is going to count.

Roman Anthony
Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥
Anthony has not let the pressure of the national spotlight slow him down at the World Baseball Classic. Despite being a late roster substitution, Anthony seems to fit right in, going for 2-for-4 with two walks, two RBI, and two runs in his WBC debut against Brazil. As one of the most hyped players going into the 2026 season, a strong WBC will only bolster the collector sentiment surrounding the 21-year-old.

Konnor Griffin
Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥
Throughout the spring, analysts have compared 19-year-old Griffin to many prominent names from throughout baseball history. From Willie Mays to Cal Ripken Jr. to Mike Trout to Bobby Witt Jr., everyone seems to have an opinion who Griffin might compare to. He may not make the roster out of spring training, but it doesn’t seem like it will take long for MLB’s top prospect to make it to “The Show.”

2025-26 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey
Every so often, an Upper Deck flagship set carries an extra level of excitement for hockey collectors, and that was certainly the case when 2025-26 Upper Deck Series 2 released last week. Featuring phenom Matthew Schaefer on the Young Guns checklist, collectors got right into the thick of the chase once the product hit shelves. The enthusiasm likely won’t wane for quite some time, either.

Anthony Edwards
Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥
With 41 points against the Grizzlies last week, Edwards passed Kobe Bryant for the second-most 40-point games by a shooting guard before age 25. Two days later, Edwards became the all-time leader in 20-point games by a shooting guard younger than 25 with 22 points against the Raptors. He is on pace to secure a new career-high total for single-season scoring (29.6 points per game going into the week).

Tyler Shough
After posting a 5-4 record in nine starts as a rookie, Shough is hoping for a breakout season in 2026. “I think with him there, (it) could be a bright future,” said veteran defensive end Cameron Jordan. “Hopefully, we continue to build upon that process that we showed last year.” The Saints got Shough some help recently by signing running back Travis Etienne Jr., giving him a reliable offensive weapon to depend on.

Macklin Celebrini
Celebrini has been one of the brightest young players throughout the NHL season, and the 19-year-old enters a new week on a three-game goal-scoring streak. He is one point shy of reaching 90 for the season, and with 21 games to go, a 100-point season seems like a safe bet, barring injury. That would make him only the fifth 19-year-old in NHL history to reach the mark.
