Beckett Sports Cards Hot/Cold List for the Week of January 5, 2026
Welcome to the weekly Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold list, where we take a quick and fun look at what’s hot and what’s not in the worlds of sports and sports cards over the last week.

The Hot List
2025-26 Topps Chrome Basketball
Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥
The highly anticipated 2025-26 Topps Chrome Basketball release landed with tremendous force in mid-December. Collectors have been chasing case hits, parallels, SPs, and more from the first full-scale, fully licensed Topps Chrome Basketball release since 2008-09. And the chase doesn’t seem like it will slow down any time soon.

Shohei Ohtani
Even with baseball deep in its offseason, collectors can’t stop thinking about the two-way Los Angeles Dodgers standout. After winning a fourth MVP last season, fans are already wondering what Ohtani might do in the upcoming season as he and the Dodgers look for a third straight World Series title.

Drake Maye
Maye has made himself an MVP case after passing for 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns while leading the New England Patriots to the postseason as AFC East champions. Making his first playoff appearance is a big moment for the second-year standout, and many collectors will be watching once he takes the field.

2025 Topps Chrome Update Series Baseball
Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥🔥

Giannis Antetokounmpo
Antetokounmpo‘s name has been flying in trade rumors, but he hasn’t seemed to let that distract his play on the court. Over the past week, the “Greek Freak” had three straight double-doubles and averaged 33.3 points and 12.0 rebounds per game during the three-game stretch.

Matthew Stafford
Even at age 37, Stafford has proven he can still produce. Stafford led the NFL with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdowns and bolstered his MVP argument with four touchdowns in a pivotal season-ending win over the Arizona Cardinals that pushed the Rams to the NFC’s No. 5 seed. He has plenty of playoff experience, so no one will be counting Los Angeles out of the running once the postseason kicks off.

Macklin Celebrini
The 19-year-old has recorded at least one point in nine straight games for the San Jose Sharks. Through 41 games, Celebrini has already matched his point total from his rookie season (63), getting there this year with 22 goals and 41 assists. His efforts have also pushed the Sharks to 20 wins so far — matching their season-long total from 2024-25. They haven’t been to playoffs since 2019; if Celebrini keeps breaking out, that streak could end.

Jaylen Brown
Brown erupted for 50 points on January 3, his latest standout showing in a breakout season. Brown’s season scoring average is at 30.1 points per game — well beyond his career-high mark of 26.6 from the 2022-23 season. Some experts have even begun putting Brown’s name into the MVP conversation, and if he keeps up this pace, it may become hard to argue with them.

Tyler Bertuzzi
Bertuzzi made his presence known on January 4, securing a hat trick as the Blackhawks defeated the Golden Knights 3-2 in overtime. With the added stats, he now ranks 10th in the NHL with 22 goals on the season. Chicago will need him to keep up the pace as the Blackhawks await the returns of Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar.

I used to get Beckett magazine years ago when card collecting was affordable. Now it’s too much not affordable for me. My prized card is Albert Pujols 2001 career stats line redemption auto. I heard there were about 17 of them, well I have one of them. Been offered other cards from other players but not giving it up. Maybe if the price was right. Anyway Beckett was great then. Have a nice day
I hope Beckett is better now than it’s ever been. I used to be like, I can’t live without a Beckett in my hand!
I have several Nolan Ryan cards one signed sealed in plastic casi have number 595 also in perfect condition. Do you know anyone interested in them. Please let me know
Hey Noreen, thanks for commenting. Secondary sales platforms like Beckett Marketplace, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace present opportunities to sell cards.
