Welcome to the weekly Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold list, where we take a quick and fun look at what’s hot and what’s not in the worlds of sports and sports cards over the last week.

The Hot List

2025 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball

Celebrating its 20th edition, 2025 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball proved popular with collectors upon its release last week. From mini framed autographs and rip cards to interesting inserts featuring beaches and lighthouses, Allen & Ginter delivers a wide range of collectability, making it one of the most popular products on every year’s release calendar.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

If anyone wondered how the Oklahoma City Thunder would do in defending their NBA championship, the start of this season has provided a pretty strong indication. At 23-1, the Thunder are the best team in the NBA, and Gilgeous-Alexander, the reigning MVP, is the driving force behind it. With 32.8 points and 6.4 assists per game, SGA has a hand in plenty of points for OKC, which is averaging 123.0 ppg (second in the league) and has won 15 in a row.

Shedeur Sanders

After an impressive performance against the Tennessee Titans in his third career start, the Cleveland Browns named Sanders their starting quarterback for the rest of the season. The fifth-round draft pick who some experts thought would be picked in the first few picks of the draft, threw for 364 yards and 3 touchdowns in a losing effort, but he has shown plenty of promise and given Browns fans a glimmer of hope that quarterback stability could be on the way.

Luka Dončić

Consecutive Weeks on Hot List: 🔥🔥

After missing a couple of games to witness the birth of his daughter, Dončić returned with a triple-double. The NBA scoring leader (35.0 points per game) is averaging 9.2 assists and 9.1 rebounds per game in what’s shaping up to the most balanced season of his career. If he can continue this pace, Dončić will be in the running for his first career MVP award.

Jalen Brunson

Brunson is heating up for the Knicks, who sit second in the Eastern Conference at 16-7. He has averaged 29.7 points per game in his last three, and it was recently disclosed that he received more write-in votes for New York City mayor than any other athlete. If he keeps scoring, his popularity in the Big Apple and in the trading card industry isn’t likely to wane any time soon.

Myles Garrett

Garrett is making a serious challenge to the NFL’s single-season sack record. With 19 quarterback takedowns in 12 games, he is on pace to record 27 sacks this year — well beyond Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt’s current record of 22.5 (which they accomplished in 16 games, while Garrett has a 17-game schedule). It’s long been a goal for Garrett to post 25 sacks in a season, and this seems like his best chance to get there.

Will Smith

Smith had a solid rookie season, but he has turned up his play in Year 2. Through 30 games, the 20-year-old center has 12 goals and 16 assists, well ahead of his rookie pace, which saw 18 goals and 27 assists in 74 games. As one of the brightest up-and-comers in the league, collectors are taking notice.

Ryan Greene

Everyone has been talking about Connor Bedard’s play with the Chicago Blackhawks this season, but Greene also deserves some attention. The 22-year-old rookie hasn’t posted eye-popping numbers, but he has been a consistent force in Chicago with five assists and four goals so far.

Carter Verhaeghe

With goals in five of his last six games, Verhaeghe is capturing attention of late. Named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week after scoring four goals last week, Verhaeghe has even more reason to celebrate — he recently became a father. In his first game after his son’s birth, he notched a goal, a moment he will certainly remember forever.
