Beckett Sports Card Hot / Cold – September 25, 2020
It’s time for Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold where we take a quick look at what’s hot and what’s not in the worlds of sports and sports cards. And while it’s officially fall, we promise to keep them pumpkin spice to a minimum.
Postseason sports — both looming and winding down — continue to be major drivers in the hobby right now. In basketball, a lot of collectors appear to be anticipating a showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat. As expected, LeBron James and Anthony Davis are maintaining high interest levels. But it’s the South Beach surprise that are really (pardon the pun) heating things up. In particular, Jimmy Butler and rookie Tyler Herro have elevated their hobby status to new heights.
MLB’s playoff picture is starting to take shape. With the abbreviated season, there have been several second-tier hobby names emerging as MVP favorites including an entry on this week’s list, Jose Ramirez.
Some perennial hobby favorites have collectors shredding packs in large numbers, hence the inclusions of 2020 Bowman Chrome Baseball, 2020 Allen & Ginter and 2020-21 O-Pee-Chee Hockey. 2020 Panini Mosaic Football is also drawing a lot of attention and strong sales.
This week’s Hot/Cold is brought to you by Dynasty Breaks.
