Beckett Sports Card Hot / Cold – July 17, 2021
Welcome to this week’s Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold where we have some fun and take a quick gander at what’s hot and what’s not in the world of sports cards and sports. It’s also one of the few places in the world where you won’t be bombarded by Space Jam 2 this weekend (no disrespect to your Foghorn Leghorn RCs).
With summer in full swing, many people are finding a little time to relax. Whether it’s at the beach, somewhere exotic or simply staying at home to spend some extra time with family and friends, all are good times to sit back and simply enjoy. Maybe that’s what we should be doing with sports right now.
Baseball is coming off of its All-Star Game earlier this week. If people were talking about Shohei Ohtani in the lead up to the Midsummer Classic, they were shouting about him by the time he threw out his first pitch in Colorado. That’s what happens when you’re the starting pitcher and leadoff batter in a game of baseball’s best. There was also the Home Run Derby appearance the day before.
With a home run, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. took home All-Star MVP honors. The young Blue Jay then hit two more in the first game after the break. It gives him 30 on the year. Only Ohtani has more at the moment with 33.
For the past couple of years, there have been lots of questions and second-guessing about both of these stars. Many questioned their health. And now that they are healthy, you still hear chatter about for how long. It’s sports. Injuries happen. It just means that maybe we should be simply enjoying what we’re able to see right now.
This week’s Hot/Cold is brought to you by Dynasty Breaks.
I have a 1998 Upper Deck Black Diamond Quadruple Horizontal Troy Aikman card PC2 that you guys have never put a value on. Can you give me any info on it?
